Without North Korea, Hollywood Is Running Out of Politically Correct Villains

With Sonys decision to pull the Seth Rogen/James Franco starrer The Interview from circulation following a brutal hack attack by the North Korean regime, Hollywood finds its list of acceptable villains growing shorter and shorter. Not only did Sony pull The Interview thanks to intimidation at the hands of Kim Jung Un the film was about reporters trying to kill the evil dictator they also pulled a slated Steve Carrell movie, Pyongyang, about the regime.

Sony really wimped out. I’m glad these guys weren’t around during World War II. How many movies with straight white male Christian capitalist villains can be made?
All this fuss over a comedy. I wonder what it’ll do for the careers of its stars? James Franco is Matt Damon’s rival for doing the most to invite rumors about himself. To his credit, Franco doesn’t pretend to be an expert on public policy.
