Snapchat CEO lashes out after Sony leaks
By Cory Bennett - 12/17/14 05:25 PM EST
Snapchat CEO Evan Spiegel said Wednesday that he was angry and devastated at the information leaked about his disappearing messaging app as a result of the Sony hack.
Good chunks of Snapchats business plans were revealed Tuesday when the cyberattackers that hit Sony dumped Sony Pictures CEO Michael Lynton's email catalogue.
Lynton sits on Snapchats board of directors and had numerous candid email exchanges with Spiegel about hiring practices, possible acquisitions and potential future products.
I felt like I was going to cry all morning, said Spiegel in a letter sent to Snapchat staff that he later shared on Twitter. Spiegel defended his companys right to keeping its blueprint private.
We keep secrets because we get to do our work free from judgement until were ready to share it, he wrote. We keep secrets because keeping secrets gives you space to change your mind until youre really sure youre right.

Never send information in an email you don’t want others to see. Never.
Why can’t something like this happen to every agency/entity and branch of the Federal Leviathan? That would be truly spectacular! LOL
This has become too hot to drop. Prediction: Somebody IS going to release that film online before this month is over. They will find many, many people wanting a copy of this C minus film for symbolic reasons only. Whoever captures, copies and releases the film will be bringing in some good money. At least for a while.
Live by the bit, die by the bit.....
die bit by bit?
Nope! A few years ago my company got in a business deal with a dishonest company put together with their CEO who an immigrant from Nigeria. As we were finding how how they were screwing us, I sent an email to a business partner that said “why did we do business with that damn Nigerian??”
When we went to court, that email was brought up.
Hilarious! This guy has got to come up with some lame quasi-theory about why corporate secrets are OK, when everyone with have a brain in his head knows that corporate secrets are often a necessity.
...count me among those who only have “have” a brain in my head.
Anyone who knows me has permission to put a bullet in my noggin if I ever write something like that.
Of course.
Never send it in a letter either, because once the recipient opens it..................
Why not? I dont’ get it.
What’s that from? :/
I hope that’s not the same Nigerian who promised to put $3 million in my account next week!

The internet is not now secure nor has it ever been, nor will it ever be so.
If you don't want it known do not put it on a device that in anyway connects to the internet.
What a waste of design skills. They could be building truly useful hardware instead.
