After the cromnibus passed Thursday night, Rep. Marlin Stutzman, R-Ind., made the rather shocking claim that GOP leadership convinced him to vote for the rule allowing the bill to get to the floor by telling him they were pulling the bill anyway.
Earlier today, I supported the Rule because I was informed by Leadership that the CROmnibus was dead and a short term CR would take its place, Stutzman said in a news release. I was very surprised and even more disappointed to see the CROmnibus back on the floor. The American people deserve better. The rule passed the House Thursday 214 to 212 after Stutzman and Rep. Kerry Bentivolio, R-Mich., both switched their votes from Nay to Yea.
Had Stutzman not switched, its unclear if the bill would ever have come to the floor, or passed hours later.

4th Generation farmer. Farms 4,000 acres. Took the place of Souder who resigned cause he was screwing a female staffer- resigned in 2010. Stutzman is one of the new wave in 2010— one of the “knuckleheads” that Boehner despises and now apparently has lied to to get his vote. This should start an avalanche. Boehner MUST Go, period. And the new House and Senate are NOT bound by this bill— at. all. Change it, negate it, burn it up.
This is a farmer, a family farmer and the caddie boy screwed him. This is not going to be forgotten.
I would hope by now people see the sheer disdain that the GOP holds for their intelligence.
I would also hope that it’s upsets them tremendously. Because if it doesn’t, the GOP is correct to do so.
his ignorance is so charming; can he seriously think that I, or anyone else, would believe his cock and bull story?
Or am I just being especially cynical today?
That is just how they wanted it to.
It should be very clear to everyone that the GOP not the solution to any problem, but in fact is a very serious problem itself.
Elections mean nothing in America, we have no power over our “represenatives” at all.
Only question that remains is what the Hell are we going to do about it.
This bawling bassturd needs to be pitched from speaker.
For once I would like to see a republican hoodwink Boehner.
Boehner is not that smart. It should be easy to tell him one thing and them pull it after explaining that constituents back home changed their mind.
No, he’s lying. Much earlier I heard a story about someone voting the bill to the floor because he didn’t want Pelousy to have a say in it. They’ll keep coming up with different reasons until they find one they think people will believe.
We have an entire Congress full of practiced liars (lawyers). They don’t want responsibility and they don’t want to be blamed, so they give their authority to govern to others, to do in secret what they can deny knowledge of later.
Remember, it’s not their fault. They just voted for it.
Sorry, I don’t believe him. He’s a politician so he was born with a lie in his mouth. Is Boner capable of this kind of dirty trick? Yes. In fact, he may have even come up with the lie, but Stutzman is the one that betrayed his constituents, and now he’s trying to lie his way out of it.
Hard to believe his ignorance.
IF the court system was honest (not run by lawyers); do you think we could convict said lawyers under the RICO statutes?
If this guy was fooled by John Boner, he must be stupider than Cathy McMorris-Rogers with Down Syndrome.
Well, yes.
Culberson from Texas was on local talk radio today and he kept repeating “Reinforcements will be here next month then we can do something.” The talk show host kept playing the Cavalry Charge.
It’s always the same old sheet. “We’ll get ‘em next time.” There will be no next time for me. I will never waste my gas and my time to go vote for another republican. Voting accomplishes absolutely nothing with the exception of encouraging the bastards to keep doing what they’re doing.
The only way I will ever vote again is if a third party conservative runs. All republicans are liars. And I mean all. I do find it sad that the last vote I ever cast was for that damned fraud abortion loving Mormon Romney.
Flame away. I won’t even feel it.
Stutzman <<-— DAMAGE CONTROL... an excuse for the rubes back home..
It has smell of CYA to me......my ex-congressman did that song and dance on funding for Planned Parenthood when the reality was he voted for it deliberately because the largest Republican campaign donor in the area supports Planned Parenthood....
Just plain stupid.....join the fellowship of Maxine Waters, S. J. Lee..the more the merrier. Party on, you crude elite wannabe’s.
The balloons have deflated in record time. Is a new party NOW ready to begin to take up the banner? Geeze, this is so disgusting my stomach has done more flip flops than Jon Kerry.
It’s only a movie, it’s only a movie, it’s only a movie...
“Gone With the Wind” or ‘Nightmare on Elm Street”?
Only question that remains is what the Hell are we going to do about it.
Go over their heads with the states using Article V. Republicans now control 66 out of 99 state houses.
Republican politicians.
Legislatures controlled by the sheeple = 0.
Politicians controlled by the sheeple = 0.
I say we burn this bitch down.
John Boehner punted on first down.
He needs to go.
