When my father started losing his memory, he still remembered all the good stories from his Navy years ... and he still remembered that he wasn’t supposed to tell them in front of ladies, so I missed most of it!

Some claim that coconut oil reverses some of the symptoms of Alzheimer’s. And some claim that it has to be organic. There are a few books on the subject now.

Whatever it’s value in preventing/curing Alzheimer’s, it is an awesome cooking oil (Louana). It tastes great, almost no taste, except slightly sweet, and it cleans up like no other grease. It just rinses off with water. And, since it’s medium-chain triglyceride oil, it is claimed to be thermogenic- it makes you lose weight, because it’s not digested the same way as other cooking oils.

That’s great!

It will be several months before the results of my father’s autopsy are released. Until then, his condition was “dementia consistent with Alzheimer’s Disease,” because he couldn’t have the brain scan.

If it proves to be AD, I’ll (obviously) continue to be very interested in advances in prevention and treatment.
