In December 2012, Jackie broke down. All of a sudden she was going home and none of us knew why. It was right before finals, and I couldnt believe she was leaving. She was distraught, and only said she needed to go home. Her teachers had given her allowance to take her finals over break. At that point, we knew something big had happened. I didnt know until this year with the publication of Rolling Stones article how bad that time was for her.
Sometime that year I remember her letting it slip to me that she had had a terrible experience at a party. I remember her telling me that multiple men had assaulted her at this party. She didnt say anything more. It seemed that was all shed allow herself to say. I wish I had done something sooner. I wish I had known how to help. But I applaud Jackie for telling her story, now two years later. It was a story that needed to be told.

Oh, wait. I guess she already has been: Jackie Coakley.
Yes, any and every time a college coed gets moody, it must be because she was ganged.
She’s already recanted. Forget it.
I agree. One way or another this woman needs help.
IOWs you still don't know any facts at all you just belieeeeeve it must have been true. That's retarted.
“Shes already recanted.”
I don’t believe she has.
I’m not praying for a liar who tried to ruin many people’s lives. You go ahead.
She flunked out.
Rape is her cover story.

EXCLUSIVE: My daughter told the truth: Father of girl at center of University of Virginia gang rape storm defends 20-year-old saying she WAS raped - and simply made mistake over name of fraternity where attack happened
(MORE at link)
The story now is that this DID happen at a fraternity, just not THAT fraternity.
Yeah, sure... now, a couple of years later, it all comes back to you. It's so easy to forget the time your roommate told you about getting gang-raped.
It also seems to have been difficult for Emily to link Jackie's depression to her supposed sexual assault. What a friend!
The frauds are coming out of the woodwork.
I read she has a history of false sexual claims
Which is probably true. Though gang rape as an initiation ritual is, I suspect, more likely to be associated with the Crips or MS-13 than with a college fraternity.
Even assuming all frat brothers have no morals or decency, an assumption I'd like to believe, are they all stupid? Do none of them realize what a proven case like this would do to them individually, to their house, their fraternity nationwide and all fraternities?

The above is a correction/apology, followed by original story. The original story strikes me as at the very least enhanced to the point where whatever truth there may have been is unrecognizable. It looks like sensationalism in the service of a class warfare and feminist narrative. It’s a shame too that Rolling Stone didn’t look for a valid story if fraternity gang rapes like this happen. If.
It’s a shame that she didn’t go to the emergency room to get evidence and file a police report (not campus police) immediately. Actual rapists (whether using force or drugs) should go to prison for a very long time. Fictional rape stories (or even fictionalized ones) weaken credibility and make it easier for real rapists to get away with the crime.
That’s the name that’s been mentioned on Twitter.
Sincerely, Mr. B. Foot.

So who should the blame fall on? A fraternity full of innocent young men? An entire culture? An entire campus? An entire region of the country?
If her friend has troubles I wish her luck working them out, but the massive damage she has caused is unconscionable. Moreover the new level of doubt she has laid upon the veracity of young women's future rape claims -- real victims -- cannot be repaired no matter where this story goes from here.
You mean like Tawana Brawley got “raped” to cover for her spending the weekend with her boyfriend?
