If it’s a symptom of esophageal cancer .... and it can be. Chronic acid reflux can also cause Barrett’s Esophagus which is pre-cancerous. If you have acid reflux bad enough to inflame your soft tissues, it’s not a good thing. He got a CT scan to rule out tumors etc. With his heavy smoking past (& I’ll bet he still has a ciggy or something else fairly frequently these days), cancer is a worry. Risk factors for esophageal cancer:
The use of tobacco products, including cigarettes, cigars, pipes, and chewing tobacco, is a major risk factor for esophageal cancer. The more a person uses tobacco and the longer it is used, the higher the cancer risk. Someone who smokes a pack of cigarettes a day or more has at least twice the chance of getting adenocarcinoma of the esophagus than a nonsmoker. Only if you get some kind of bleeding ulcers, or you have Barretts Esophogus that turns to cancer. It is curable....it’s just a matter of taking a dose of apple cider vinegar in water...about two tablespoons and it will be gone soon.
