Is acid reflex terminal?

No but esophageal cancer usually is. Trouble is it would take to long to save us from King Putt’s last 2 years.

Tell me about it, my GERD is DRUG INDUCED. OA, HRT, and a host of others I’ve been given in the past 30 yrs. Has made GERD a permanent fixture of my health conditions. I now have Barret’s Esophagus to contend with. Then you have bone density issue as PPI’s cause OP. And there are 2 small studies, by no means large enough, that link long term PPI usage to Gastroparesis. A Nasty Slow Motility disorder. http://www.webmd.com/digestive-disorders/digestive-disorders-gastroparesis

I know someone with that. It’s not a fun thing to have. Poor man can’t eat anything solid and has lost tons of weight. His is in the advanced stages where he can’t be operated on or take chemo. He started with heartburn a while back, but it got to a point where antacids weren’t helping any longer. I don’t know if he was a smoker or not.

I suffer with heartburn as well, but haven’t seen a doctor about it. I just pop the antacids and they do help.
