NEW ORLEANS (AP) Eighty-seven year old former Louisiana Gov. Edwin Edwards has come up short in his attempt at a political comeback after serving a prison sentence for corruption.
Results of Saturday's runoff in the Baton Rouge area's 6th Congressional District showed Edwards, a lifelong Democrat, losing to Republican Garret Graves.
Graves had been heavily favored in the district that leans strongly Republican.

I guess the dems didn’t turn out enough to vote that crook back in. When I was a student at LSU, Edwards was governor and he would cruise sorority row on bid day when hundreds of college girls were outside welcoming the new girls. There he would go, cruising in his limo.

It’s interesting that a felon can’t vote, but a felon can run for office...

U.S. Rep or LA state Rep? The article blurb was ambiguous.

In the South, Democrats will be left without a single governor or U.S. senator across nine states stretching from the Carolinas to Texas. The House delegations from the same region are divided almost entirely by race, with white Republicans representing majority-white districts, while majority non-white districts are represented by black or Hispanic Democrats.

What is fascinating about Edwards is that he is 87 years old and his analysis of his crushing defeat sounded more lucid and articulate than the phalanx of blow dry news crappers from the networks. What a waste of intellect, how did EE become the complete sociopath he was and I suppose is. Other siblings didn't turn out that way. A younger brother was a career Marine and retired as a WO, I think. He bought a farm in Arkansas and bluntly stated he neither wanted any contact with his (in)famous brother and did not want to reside in the same state as EE.
