In Mississippi, Lott said, GOP leaders are working to repair damage from GOP Sen. Thad Cochran's bruising re-election race against Republican state Sen. Chris McDaniel, a tea party favorite who lost to Cochran in a GOP primary runoff.
(SNIP)
Lott said McDaniel "would have come up here and teamed up with Ted Cruz and been nothing but a troublemaker. We didn't need that.'' Cruz, a senator from Texas and a hero to the tea party, was a driving force behind the October 2013 government shutdown.

Trent Lott sure has been running his mouth lately. Wonder what he’s up to.
Bingo! Trent, please fade away with your handsome lobbyist paycheck slowly into oblivion you hairless whore.
Democrat homosexual = OK
Republican homosexual = NOT OK!
The GOPe willfully ignores the obvious at their peril.
how about blackmail, that could do it or large sacks of cash.
Shoulda had Childers.
I would disagree...Trent has always been a lobbyistcrat. He doesn’t really agree with either Republican or Democrat values....he’s there for lobbyists to get their pet projects through the pipeline. It’s about money and fixing things for the right people. Maybe they were from Mississippi....maybe they were from Saudi Arabia....it didn’t matter.
What I am surprised about....Trent has been out of DC for almost a decade. Why does his name and comments still come up?
Trent Who?
Now there's a name that make me want to spit up.
Worthless sissy bastard way back and still a worthless sissy bastard.
What you say may be true, but there was another main issue in the background.
At that time, Bush and the GOP were wanting to stack the conference committee as a means of getting certain pieces of legislation thru Congress, but Lott refused to co-operate. Lott was more loyal to the Senate as an institution than he was to the GOP.
Keep in mind, when the controversy erupted, Lott was forced out as Majority leader(2002), but retained his senate seat for about another 5 years(2007)
He was replaced by Bill Frist who was willing to stack and the first legislation that Frist and Hastert stacked was the senior prescription drug benefit legislation. Then they tried to stack the immigration reform legislation in 2006, but Reid blocked them, forcing Bush and the GOP to abandon immigration reform.
Once a scumbag always a scumbag eh Trent?
Someone tell black face to STFU.
