RUSH: Yesterday in Washington, the Christian Science Monitor breakfast -- (interruption) You know what's coming? Senator Trent Lott, former Senator Trent Lott, Republican, Mississippi, was the guest, and he was speaking about immigration reform and told a story about immigration reform and the Republicans' attempt to do it in 2007.
LOTT: My phones were jammed for a week or two. Rush Limbaugh gave out my phone number. We lost that vote in 2007 on a procedural vote. I thought we were gonna be able to win that. But over the weekend Rush Limbaugh labeled it amnesty, and labor got a hold of the Democrats and said, "No, we don't want these workers coming in with these visas." So Democrats were coming in and voting "no" because of labor. Republicans were coming in and voting "no" because of amnesty, from Rush Limbaugh. And I'm in the well of the Senate with Jon Kyl and Lindsey Graham, not two notorious liberals, but also Ted Kennedy, Dianne Feinstein and Harry Reid. The six of us are working the vote, and we lost. You know, that was one of the most mind-boggling things.
Supporters of the bill wanted to pass it quickly, before Rush Limbaugh could tell the American people what was in it, Mr. Sessions said.
Killing amnesty in 2007 was an awesome display of Americans supporting Americans!
I loved seeing the pics of the protests
They’re getting amnesty as long as the border is wide open.
Trent Lot destroyed the last Republican held Senate by not passing anything worthwhile from the House. He has no business opening his mouth now.
But that was a time when we at least had a President who respected the rule of law and didn’t decide to declare Amnesty/immigration Reform a done deal without a vote from the people’s “representatives (phony though they are).”
Trent Lott is a HAS BEEN, and should just shut up, since he is no longer an elected “representative”.
This vote in 2007 came up in the judiciary hearing Dec 2.
Obama voted down the immigration bill in 2007.
Trench black face Lott’s 15 minutes were up two decades ago.
Boggles the mind all right.
Ping
The late Paul Weyrich founder of Free Congress Foundation likely had more to do with Lott’s long term frustrations and him not being trusted by Conservatives LOL. Weyrich was among the first to begin sounding warnings about Lott back in the late 1990’s shortly after Lott took over as SML and began cutting deals with the left. Paul Weyrich had started up a Conservative format television network called National Empowerment Television. Weyrich would almost daily blow a gasket on air about Lott’s antics.
I’ve seen the early days of National Empowerment Television on YouTube truly remarkable stuff. Also there’s the Round Table which wad hosted by the late Howard Phillips it it also had great guest and the stuff is also on YouTube.
One creeper was involved in the network operations bt I can’t recall user name. Bill Lind and late freeper John Lofton were my favorites.
Used to watch Paul all the time. A true-blue conservative. I even visited the network a couple of times when in DC.
But his hair was perfect.
Wow that’s Awesome.
Never forget Ms ping
