Fort Hood shooting victims will soon be eligible to receive Purple Heart

Victims of the Fort Hood shooting will soon be eligible to receive the Purple Heart, with Congress pushing ahead with a policy change that would officially recognize domestic terrorism as an issue, rather than the “workplace violence” designation the Obama administration had used.

The issue has been contentious since the 2009 attack, with victims and their family members saying Army Maj. Nidal Hasan’s shooting spree was clearly linked to the broader war on terror that the U.S. is fighting overseas.

He’d send Sharpton out to scream racism and incite more riots.

It’s the only thing he knows . . . .

Uh huh. The shooter will also receive a Purple Heart should he be executed.

And has received about $400K in salary since the event.

Obama can't voice the real explanation for his administration's "workplace violence" determination as the cause in this case.

If the U.S. government calls the Fort Hood massacre anything other than "workplace violence," then it would be an explicit admission that the U.S. military had been infiltrated by an Islamic radical who was hell-bent on carrying out an attack on his fellow soldiers.

This isn't just an Obama administration issue, either. The perpetrator in this case had been a military doctor long before Obama was in office.

Well....Arabs are the whitest white people in the world, just ask them. If Obammy (whom Arabs would call a `raisinhead’) thinks otherwise, that’s his mistake.

The Fort Hood victims were not “injured”, they were active military WOUNDED by deliberate enemy action while enroute to a combat theater. They deserve their Purple Hearts & all the benefits which that medal brings.

BTW, I hope Ted Cruz publicly dares Obama to veto the measure.

Formal classification of the Fort Hood Massacre as an act of terrorism will open up a can of worms over Nidal Hasan’s entire chain of command all the way up to the Army Chief of Staff who called it “workplace violence”.

Families of Purple Heart recipients killed or wounded that day will be lawyering up & demanding to know why the terrorist Hasan’s superiors did not intervene sooner.

This award gives them legal standing, finally.

He responds to every islamic terrorist attack like someone who was educated in a muslim school on Indonesia and attended a church where the pastor called upon God to damn America.

I don't think this has anything to do with "lawyering up," legal standing, or anything of that sort.

A legal action against the U.S. military probably doesn't stand much of a chance of success, since the entire institution operates outside U.S. civil and criminal law in most respects.

They will just focus on the DOMESTIC terrorist part, and fail to mention it was a Muslim.
They might even show a picture of McVeigh while running the story.

How about a senior officer in Hasan’s chain being subpoenaed by the Senate Armed Services Committee (under new management) & being asked,

“General, you knew this officer posed a risk to those around him by his espousal of radical Islam through his public statements & his membership in a jihadi mosque.”

“Please explain to this committee why nothing was done to evaluate what turned out to be a lethal threat.”

It’s not a civil suit, got it. But it’s entirely possible that a Congressional inquiry could result in someone getting court-martialed for dereliction or negligence. By those in the chain who don’t want to wind up in the same boat.

That would help to provide some closure for the family members, IMO.

With the victims receiving Purple Hearts, (Long, Long Overdue), how about the perpetrator receiving a hanging or death by firing squad, (Long, Long Overdue!)
