Jeb Bush: Republicans Don't Need Conservatives to Win White House, Should Not Defund Exec Amnesty
Breitbart ^ | Dec. 2, 2014 | Tony Lee

Even though moderate Republican candidates lose presidential elections without the conservative base (see: George H.W. Bush '92, Bob Dole '96, John McCain '08, Mitt Romney '12), former Florida Governor and potential presidential candidate Jeb Bush thinks conservatives are not needed to win the White House.

Bush believes that a presidential candidate who is "willing to lose the primary to win the general" has the best shot at the White House.

*snip*

Should Bush run, his embrace of comprehensive amnesty legislation and Common Core will put him at odds with conservative voters in the early primary states.

No, the Republican primary voters will see these liberals as an “embarrassment of riches” and get behind one of them. They nearly always do.

Despite your long record of defeatism (proven from your posting history), governance in the US has become much more conservative.

Stick a sock in it.

But you think Nancy was better than Bonehead? Granted Bonehead is not much better than Nancy, but, in my opinion he is better than Nancy.

As long as we will accept the lessor of two evils we will just get more Evil. We can't control what the Dems do, and if we continue to vote against the Dem we get the Dem light.

I have always hoped that the GOPe would see the error of their way but I no longer hold that view and this last round of surrender speeches buy our leadership proves it. I now feel the GOP is fatally flawed and they have infected the Republic with their me to progressivism virus and there is no voter vaccine. The Rham Emanuel doctrine has me squarely in its sights.

“I will not vote for a single GOP candidate, State, local, or federal if the GOP support this liberal Democrat.”

Good point, and I understand the thought. Trust me I’m about as pessimistic as they come as far as the GOP and the nation’s prospects go. But for now don’t want to lock myself in to that big of a course of action; in the future there may very well be a GOP candidate that reasonably fits my priorities.

On the other hand I think that sends a valuable message to the GOP. On the other foot, I don’t think the GOP is listening. I quit writing as the GOP hasn’t unanswered 7 letters of mine.

I will always vote for the candidate the best suits my goals, and I absolutely am no longer a Lesser of Two Evils (LOTE) voter. I have had it with the GOP and their antics, came to that conclusion years ago, and most certainly DID NOT vote for McCain or Romney.

For now, I’m about convinced The Nail (Hillary) will win the White House. And that will signify the beginning of the end. IE: there will be no way to turn this nation around.

I’ll have to think on this a bit, but for now I promise not to vote for Jeb. Period.

Now if a viable third party would emerge, it would be a different story.

Actually you are wrong. The election of 1860 saw no Whig Party candidate. The 3rd Party, Constitution Union, candidate lost.

Who would or did you vote for in 2012?

They quit running as whig because it was a kiss of death.

I didn't vote for a liberal in 2012. That's all you need to know.

“Now if a viable third party would emerge, it would be a different story.”

We created third parties in 1992 by voting for them. Then people started claiming Clinton go tin because of it so people have been afraid to vote third party. Not any more. We get the liberal eGOP instead of Democrats and that is just not acceptable.

To help force the issue, I won’t vote for ANY GOP if they screw this immigration up or anoint Jeb. Let all GOP candidates understand they need to get to those third parties to win.

Jettison the base to pander to the Middle?

“that person is not a viable candidate.”

Well, it seems the “viable” candidates are liberals. Why vote GOP if you are going to vote liberal? Might as well vote Donkey.

Because Romney would have been better for the country. The Donkey Party doesn't have liberals, they have Communists, that's why you shouldn't vote Donkey.

That’s fine. If you are too embarrassed to say who you supported, I understand. Otherwise I would have thought you would be willing to promote him. Or perhaps you are afraid if you actually stated whom you cast your vote for others might turn on you like a pack of dogs. I know that feeling very well here at FR.

Nope. Actually, in the last presidential election, I know I didn't vote for a liberal (Dem or Republican) but I don't remember which candidate I voted for. Since he didn't win, it doesn't matter.

But the candidate had to meet my rules for anti-abortion, pro-gun, anti-amnesty, anti-socialized medicine and for smaller government.

Those selection criteria haven't changed in decades, and if a candidate meets them, they get my vote.

I understand completely.

“Then people started claiming Clinton go tin because of it so people have been afraid to vote third party.”

I’m thinking you know this already, but just to bolster my argument - and possibly yours - against “third party voters lost the election.”

Folks can read hear: http://www.fec.gov/pubrec/fe2008/2008presgeresults.pdf

Bottom line: there were not enough third party votes to get McCain past Zer0.

McCain lost by 9,522,083 votes, and there were 1,865,617 third party votes. And I don’t believe those third party votes would have gotten McCain the College.

All that said, I wonder if Conservative voters (all inclusive) outnumber Dem voters. Especially considering voter fraud, illegals and immigrants that quite possibly may vote Dem for life, etc.

I know that after the 2010 elections the eGOP took notice, however, they still didn’t back conservative candidates in 2012. Conservative candidate won in 2012 despite the eGOP, which says there is a strong backing for them.

“Because Romney would have been better for the country. “

In what way? Romney was a Democrat his entire career. He even claimed he didn’t know any Republicans.

Romney would have supported ObamaCare, amnesty, pacifism in the world, high budgets, etc. He would have been of little difference.

Liberal republicans lost the election.

In the last 2 presidential elections, 3rd party has won as many presidential elections as liberal republicans.

None.

A vote for a liberal republican is a wasted vote, and a vote for a liberal.

I don't remember which candidate I voted for.

All I can say is wow. In 2 short years, though they have seemed like an eternity, you have forgotten the candidate that you claimed possessed all of the necessary qualifications for that person to earn your vote. Even though I provided you with a list of every person that had received a vote.

Sounds like a winning game plan to save America to me.
