Chris Rock explained in a lengthy interview Sunday that he believes part of healing racial relations in America is by white people “owning” the actions of their ancestors.
The black comedian told New York magazine’s Frank Rich that racial progress in America is “nonsense” and that the only thing that’s changed is white people aren’t as crazy as they used to be.

I’m guessing you mean the War Between the States...the war that was fought to preserve the Union, if we are to believe Mr. Lincoln. The only war fought in America to “free” anybody was the Revolutionary War.

Those were the lucky ones. The unlucky ones were the slaves who either weren't sold, sold to other Africans or sold to Arabs, who castrated the males and worked both genders to death. Africans took slaves long before the white man started buying them. Heck, Britain and its neighbors bought and sold white slaves right up to around 1000 AD. The Arabs captured white slaves by raiding European coasts up until the 19th century.

I don’t suppose Chris Rock is “owning” the brutal death sentence the poor Bosnian got when he was beat to death by black thugs in St.Louis Sunday morning? Nope,didn’t think so.
Exactly and I am glad you have found those stories! The ones who survived did have their lives fore-shortened, in my family also. Tell these stories to your kids and anyone who will listen. Civil War pension files complete with what they suffered are on fold3.com. They want to know what OUR ancestors did?? Let’s be prepared to tell them! I know German immigrants hated slavery, and spilled their blood to prove it. Only those ignorant of history can accept the lie that “whites” enslaved blacks — the numbers of white slave owners was a small percentage of the population. Of course the number of other blacks and Native Americans was smaller still, but how does that fit into their narrative?

OK, but I get to own the good with the bad. Now black people have to do the same, including the actions of black thugs. It all seems racist to me, but if that’s what black people want, then so be it.
That's what so aggravating!! Mine were here but they were poor dirt farmers like most of the rest of America, there were very few folks who could afford slaves. Not only that my ancestors from Tennessee and other parts south actually fought for the Union side so mine were fighting to free the slaves but hey, I'm white so I'm the bad person.
This whole racist slave concept thing needs to go. None of us living were involved and if our ancestors were, we had no control over that.

All four of my great grandfathers fought for the Union Army. At least one of them bled for the cause. My uncle still has the lead ball his grandfather (my ggf) was shot in the leg with in the last battle of the Civil War. He was sixteen when he joined. I own that.
Chris Rock needs to own the fact that it's evil to treat people as members of some group based on the color of their skin, instead of treating them as individuals based on the content of their character. There can be no racial healing unless and until those facts are accepted by the grievance mongers.

I'd like to point out again:
Most blacks in this country are at least as likely to be descended physically from slaveholders as any white. Maybe even more likely.
No you are not safe, as you are presumed guilty. Be prepared to present your family tree, sort of like was required by Nazis to show one had no Jewish blood. Now we have to prove we are not descendants of slave-owners?? Most of us by large margins were not, as history proves. Even those who are descendants of slave owners are not guilty of what happened long before they were born. That would be an injustice, wouldn’t it? to ascribe guilt to a person innocent of any personal wrong-doing? or?
