Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee has been something of an afterthought in the early coverage of the emerging Republican presidential field.
That might be a little shortsighted, according to the results of a Wall Street Journal/NBC News poll released last week.
Mr. Huckabee, who defied expectations in 2008 by winning the Iowa caucuses, is viewed more positively by fellow Republicans than nine potential rivals, including former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul.
The numbers alone arent enough to nudge the former Arkansas governor into the top-tier of Republicans considering a bid, but they do serve as a reminder that many assumptions about the GOP field are dangerously premature. The Republicans generating the most headlines arent necessarily the ones who excited GOP primary voters.

Lots of wisdom in your posting!
I like the “Banjo” thing.
:-)
Thanks!
With the 2014 election wave and the Dems starting to disrespect Baraq, the 2016 election suddenly looks a a lot more winnable for an R candidate. I think there will be a real land rush for the nomination.
One article I read had 23 potential Republicans in the race.
Of course they sort out pretty quick.
I just wish the primaries were scheduled in order of Republican percent vote in the previous POTUS election.
Thanks for that link. I had forgotten about that one.
the only afterthought huckabee is for me is after a bowel movement.
After his comments last week that he had a Christian duty to expand entitlements for the poor, take Kasich off the list for me.
they - the WSJ - want him on the ticket just so that he lowers the public opinion of the GOP field outside of their favorite - another Bush
I don’t want a Huckabee or a Bush; nor any of their kin; nor a Romney nor a McPain.
