Post Midterm Democrat Civil War Part 3: Schumer vs. Obamacare

As previously noted on the Tipsheet in the past month, Democrats have been at each others throats after suffering devastating losses at every level of government during the 2014-midterm elections in November. Less than 24-hours after the polls closed on Election Night, when Republicans retook the Senate and the biggest majority of state legislatures in American history, outgoing Majority Leader Harry Reid sent his chief-of-staff to the Washington Post to slam President Obama for the losses. Just days later, Howard Dean called  Obamacare architect Jonathan Gruber "elitist" and "out-of-touch" with the American people. Last week New York Democrat Senator Chuck Schumer admitted that the focus on healthcare reform during President Obama's first two years in office was a mistake and not what the American people wanted.

"Democrats should have continued to propose middle class-oriented programs, and built on the partial success of the stimulus. But unfortunately, Democrats blew the opportunity that the American people gave them. We took their mandate and put all of our focus on the wrong problem: Healthcare reform…it wasn't the change we were hired to make," Schumer said during a speech at the National Press Club.

Now, Schumer is facing push back from Democrats on the Hill and in the White House trying desperately to keep Obamacare alive just one month before Republicans take their majority in the Senate.

Sen. Chuck Schumer’s (D-New York) comments on Wednesday about Democrats’ misguided focus on health care in President Barack Obama’s first term prompted backlash from top Democrats and left-leaning groups, who accused him of being politically craven.

It was a characterization with which top Democrats took issue, all the way up to House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-California), who was instrumental in getting the Affordable Care Act passed into law as the speaker of the House. Through a spokesman, Pelosi said there are “14 million reasons that’s wrong” — referring to 14 million Americans that have gained insurance coverage through various provisions of the law.

“We came here to do a job, not keep a job,” Pelosi said in a statement.

Tommy Vietor, a former spokesman for the White House’s National Security Council, said Schumer’s basic message was that Obama should have “cared more about helping Democrats than sick people.”

Jon Favreau, a former speechwriter, criticized Schumer for “confirming the public’s most cynical beliefs about the political process.” And Jon Lovett, another former speechwriter, went on an extended rant on Twitter that ended with him saying a test for prospective Democrats is whether they “listen to” or merely “tolerate” Schumer as a prominent voice within the party.

The liberal civil war continues... It should be noted that although Schumer is openly criticizing Obamacare, he's still a big supporter of the legislation and wants it to remain intact.

There is no “civil war” between the DIMocRATs. It is just that they are repositioning their lies. Typical of DIMs.

Wow, such a bunch of immaturity on display. Reid should have retired, if he has really lost his mind over not being majority leader.

Yeah, don’t tell me that Schmucky doesn’t believe that every aspect of medical care needs to be under the control of the Federal Government.

He just understands the need to lie about that belief in order to get/keep the power to implement it.

This is theater. Shumer would impose and advance collectivism twice a day if his party wouldn’t get punished at the polls.

Schumer has a split personality. He is mentally ill.

It ends with “Schumer said”

HHS “Started” Individual Obamacare Applications Prior To Deadline; Obtained Personal Info From States
Shark Tank / FR Posted on Friday, April 04, 2014 by M. Thatcher

In the closing days of the open enrollment period for the Affordable Care Act (ACA) , the US Dept of Health and Human Services (HHS) was mailing out letters notifying certain Americans that the govt agency had already started a healthcare coverage application on their behalf.

The HHS letter stated that the information they used to begin the application for individual Healthcare was obtain by the state agency in charge of implementing Obamacare.

The next step for the individual would be to visit the web site Healthcare.gov and complete the already started application to see if they qualify for “Marketplace coverage.”

News of the HHS letter was first mentioned by a listener of the popular “Daybreak with Drew Steele” Show on Fox 92.5, which is out of Fort Myers, Florida.(Excerpt)

NEED TO KNOW:

(1) which states participated in giving confidential information to HHS, and,

(2) how would state agencies know which of their citizens would want or need a new Obamacare-compliant policy.......without violating that individual's privacy--and without consulting the individual?

(3) for an application to be legally enforced, the individual would have had to sign it.

(4) Who signed the app? (Forgery must be considered.)

(5) When a third party commits you to a financial transaction, that person is considered your fiduciary....and CANNOT act WRT a payment method or other financial burden that conflicts with your best interests.

This is just the first step in the Leftist dance to come.

Step 1, pass a program with full throated support as to its great benefits to all mankind while ignoring that it is a potential disaster.

Step 2, watch the program fail miserably and cause harm beyond belief.

Step 3, deny deny deny and continue to tout said program as beneficial and all who oppose it as (fill in the blank, e.g. racist, etc.). It just needs time to work. Hey, at least three people have benefited. Yo media, run some endless stories making those three people seem like three million.

Step 4, suffer election losses because of the failure of said program despite your best efforts at Jedi mind tricks.

Step 5, Give your allies in the media their first marching orders by covering you giving some speech at an obscure event. At said speech you (sort of) denounce the program as good intentioned but not done at the right time or in the right way etc.

Step 6, continue denouncing the program while shifting to some race war as a distraction while proposing some other “good intentioned” law that “helps the middle class” by raising this wage or extending unemployment, etc. Better yet, lets get back to some class warfare!!!

Step 7, Give the media their next set of marching orders by implying that the whole program was really the Republican’s idea in the first place, i.e. “well, Romney, a Republican enacted it and tricked us into thinking it was good.”

Step 8, Now go into full throated blame mode and put the entire thing on the Republicans. After all, they knew then and continue to know now that this program sucked and have done nothing about it, which they are responsible for in the first place. They came up with it, uhhh, Media, some help here with the narrative.

Step 9, watch as the media echo the talking points and suddenly start referring (on CNN or some such) to Obamacare as “Romney Care II.”

Step 10, VOTE FOR HILLARY 24/7

Agreed. And they needed to put somebody out front who will not have any trouble getting reelected for this "betrayal."
Schumer could get reelected in New York for 2 more terms after he dies of natural causes.
