Have you noticed anything peculiar about supposedly fresh packaged hamburger patties in grocery chains? They don’t smell right on the grill, the way they flame up doesn’t look right and it takes some effort with the onion salt, garlic powder, etc. to get any flavor out of them? I’ve dealt with that several times over the past year and have stopped using them for family cookouts. I wonder what it is because it just isn’t the same. Looks like nice ground beef in the package, good color and texture. No idea what’s been done to it or if it’s really even beef.
Never buy them.
My burgers are all “Hand Spanked”.
I believe the pre-made’s are 70% lean. The have a lot of fat/grease in them. By the time that is all done burning off, so too does 50%+ of the seasoning you added.
No idea whats been done to it or if its really even beef...
I’m buying grass-feed beef and range-grown chickens that are chemical free. Hormones in the feed (some feed even contains body parts of beef) and genetically altered grain are producing strange-textured meat.
Why is America the only country that allows this stuff in their food? $$$$$
Concur. I think they are mostly fat and God only knows what else. I like ground chuck for the grill. Makes a good burger.
Buy a cheap cut of meat, grind it and add bacon ends ( the fatty part). Freeze what you dont use.
Mystery Meat!!! (grin)
To much soy additives in it ?
Or ? It might say “ beef “ in it, but could have other types of meats in it.
Read the fine print.
Never eat at a Chinese restaurant right next to a pet store or puppy store.
Pre-made patties always tasted bad to me. The frozen ones tasted like rancid freezer-burned soy, and the fresh ones just tasted like rancid soy.
But, I have noticed flavors changing a lot recently. I thought it was just me, but all meats seem to have lost their flavor. And they’re so full of water that you need twice as much to get the same amount.
Even prepared foods like canned soup aren’t as salty as they used to be.
I’m looking forward to when I can raise my own and not have to wonder what it’s been fed or soaked in.
