Oil is still falling.

In afternoon trade on Friday, West Texas Intermediate crude prices in the US dropped more than 10% to settle at $66.15 a barrel, a more than $7.50 drop in just 24 hours.

At one point on Friday, WTI futures briefly breached $66.

Brent crude prices, which are the global benchmark, also cracked $70 a barrel on Friday.

Earlier this week, WTI prices were at around $76 and Brent prices were near $80.

At what point would it finally not matter much if a little war in the ME closed the Straits of Hormuz?

North Dakota and Russian oilmen would be cheering for it.

Also, PA folks, we won’t be seeing any relief from lower oil prices..

The gas tax (unless it has been dumped on its ear) is set to go up again in 2015.

Good questions. How this all nets out in the economy remains to be seen. A lot of people are ruminating over just these types of scenarios but no general consensus emerging yet.

It appears that the Saudi’s are trying to squeeze out competition and want low prices to prevail for some time. However, there are a lot of potential flash points in the world today and geopolitical tensions could change things overnight. The markets could quickly re-set to a higher level than what we’re seeing now IMO.

Both corn and beef have become overpriced. What’s worse, we’re subsidizing them, too.

Have you noticed anything peculiar about supposedly fresh packaged hamburger patties in grocery chains? They don’t smell right on the grill, the way they flame up doesn’t look right and it takes some effort with the onion salt, garlic powder, etc. to get any flavor out of them? I’ve dealt with that several times over the past year and have stopped using them for family cookouts. I wonder what it is because it just isn’t the same. Looks like nice ground beef in the package, good color and texture. No idea what’s been done to it or if it’s really even beef.

Is not the gas tax hike in Penn what cost the Republican Governor his job?

Oh, it did..Corbett turned left on us. I am on the Western side of the state, gas is about $3.00 a gallon still (it will fluctuate 0.05 up and down). It is set to go up again last I had heard.

$2.65 regular here in North Carolina and we have a high state “road tax” on gas. 93 octane hasn’t broke through $3.00 yet, though.

Indeed. And ribs ribs as well. Fortunately it’s still cheaper for me to do home made bacon...the price of store bought is a killer but it’s getting harder and harder for my butcher to get pork belly.

I believe the pre-made’s are 70% lean. The have a lot of fat/grease in them. By the time that is all done burning off, so too does 50%+ of the seasoning you added.
