EPA: Coal Plants Should Spend $2B To Cut Emissions Mon, 11/24/2014 - 4:53pm Emily Schmall,
Federal regulators are proposing that the largest coal-powered plants in Texas invest $2 billion in new technology to reduce sulfur dioxide emissions, a measure energy companies are likely to resist.
The plan released Monday would require that 15 units at eight coal-fired plants be retrofitted with controls to help clear the air near national parks and other federally protected land in Texas and Oklahoma.
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency says the proposal would cut about 230,000 tons of sulfur dioxide emissions each year.
Brad Watson, spokesman for Luminant, the largest power generator in Texas, says the company is "reviewing and analyzing" the effect the 260-page ruling would have on its plants.
The EPA will issue a final rule next year following a 60-day comment period.
Screw the EPA! Defund it! Shut it down!
Instead, shut down Nixon’s EPA and save trillions. as its oppressive regulations stop choking US businesses.
Another of Richard Nixon’s BIG government disasters.
EPA: Coal Plants CUSTOMERS Should Spend $2B To Cut Emissions...........There, fixed it..................
EPA, Dept of Education should be shut down . . . any candidates with the guts to do it? Nah!
Reality: Coal Plant Customers Will Spend $2B To Cut Emissions
Beat me to the punch...
Yep. RN’s pick to be the first EPA director Ruckelshouse, a squish Rino congresscritter from Indiana, spent the next thirty years drifting leftward and in 2008 was featured in Seattle fishwrapers endorsing the Mahdi saying BHO was such a great man it brought tears to his eyes to think he had lived long enough to see someone of ‘color’ who would stop the seas from rising to be running for the Presidency.
Level the EPA and CO2 would likely go down immediately. They are just another Anti-America Marxist hammer.
Pray America is waking
Everybody's happy!
Figures.
Nixon built several monstrous fed agencies.
Too bad that the PORKULUS bill did not set aside funds to pay for upgrades to coal plants and instead gave away taxpayer monies to bankrupt solar schemes and GE kickbacks in the form of wind farms.
The ‘80s called, they want their Black Forest back.
Flue Gas Desulphurization is old technology, and yields a marketable product, gypsum wallboard. I suppose the problem is it is easier to buy Chinese sheetrock made out of ground up Chinese baby girls and ship it halfway around the world.
Yep. I have dealt with them they and the FBI are the two most obnoxiously egocentric outfits I encountered in working for the Army for some 20 years. The difference is the FBI worships itself and shows up with its lawyers to tell you why (a) they can't do anything and (b) why the Army can't either. The EPA just tells everyone how their regulations are ‘legislative’ and have the weight of law and can't be changed or modified even for a national crisis. EPA employees really think they are engaged in ‘saving the planet’ from evil greedy capitalists and piggish stupid Americans. I know one of their civil investigators who is most proud of saving America from the horror of vermiculite. Billions spent on remediation and fines since that product used some asbestos by product as a stabilizer. There is even a book written about this veritable world saving battle against the wicked Grace Corp.
Coal plants and America would be better served if they spent that money to get rid of the EPA.
Most power plants are built in Republican voting areas with most of the power transmitted long distances into Democrat voting areas. Democrats get the electricity, Republicans get the pollution. Possibly a surcharge should be placed on remote Democrat customers to clean up the Republican's air.
The Marxist EPA needs to be shut down, stat.
