Satellite images show China is building an island on a reef in the disputed Spratly Islands large enough to accommodate what could be its first offshore airstrip in the South China Sea, a leading defense publication said on Friday.
The construction has stoked concern that China may be converting disputed territory in the mineral-rich archipelago into military installations, adding to tensions waters also claimed by Taiwan, Malaysia, the Philippines, Vietnam and Brunei.

This is the fourth "land reclaimation" in the past year or so giving them complete control of the South China Sea. Couple that with them getting all chummy with Russia.

Couple that with them getting all chummy with Russia.I don't know why some of the talking heads ever imagine that the commies were, are or ever will be our friends. They are still Communists. THAT isn't going to go away because they were FORCED to adopt SOME of the practices of capitalism, a democracy/representative republic like ours.
Whom do they think they are fooling?

in Fujian province the Chinese built a special secret airbase capable of accommodating a large surge in aircraft.
The base is only 11 minutes flying time away from the Senkaku islands.
they have installed 32 batteries of the potent S-300 anti-aircraft missile system, there.
experts believe it would be impossible for the Chinese to take one or all of the Senkaku islands without also taking the Miyako islands (home to 50,000 Japanese) and perhaps even Okinawa.

Barack Obama and John Kerry.
