Republican Gov.-elect Bruce Rauner on Friday called President Barack Obamas executive action on immigration a great start to get the dialogue going on immigration policy changes.
The comments came as Rauner addressed more than 900 advocates for the Latino community in Rosemont. Rauner told the crowd he supports comprehensive immigration reform, which he acknowledged will take more work. Immigration reform 'opens doors' NIU student and undocumented citizen, Laura Ramirez, faces daily challenges of living without citizenship.
The real way to do it is on a bipartisan basis, through Congress, through the legislature, with the president, with the states all working together to make sure the changes are permanent, theyre structurally in place for the long term, said Rauner, receiving applause.
Later, when asked by a reporter if he supported Obamas executive orders, Rauner said Its good that the president gets the discussion moving.

Give a guy some warning so he can swallow the soda in his mouth before reading your reply! I spent five minutes cleaning the splutter and snort off my keyboard and screen. Good one, sir, good one!!!!
Politicians doing what they do best; opening their mouths to remove all doubt all the time. Put em around with one crowd with one mindset on an issue then put ‘em in another room with a group with the opposite mindset and he will always agree with oth or the one that will write the biggest check. Men of principle or spine? Not on your life.
Wow. Thanks for the info. It makes me feel better that a state outside of mexifornia makes us look like amateurs. s/
Rauner made $53M last year legally, so I don’t think he will take the pay cut needed to live off of even Illinois grade graft.
The absolute worst, biggest hypocrite and liar, communist, trampler of the US constitution and Muslim sympathizer politician I have observed since 1960 is Barack Hussein Obama. Rino’s are like angels in comparison.
Don’t bet your last buck on it.
There couldn’t be Obamas without the squishy compromisers.
I’m still hanging up on his robo-calls in my sleep.
All bets are off, he just sanctioned the invasion of the USA by illegal alien criminals.
HELL NEEDS TO BE PAID
Wbat an idiot. Recall?
Sounds like a nightmare.
God Bless Texas, Ted Cruz and Greg Abbott.
So does the GOPe insult Tea Partiers and conservatives. Thad Cochran is one of the recent, and most egregious instances.
I have resigned myself to the idea that the GOP is riddled with infiltrators, which makes perfect sense as that has been the left’s MO with academia, the media, and more recently, the military and Christian churches (well they’ve been infiltrating the church since its foundation, but now they’re successfully rotting one after another denomination from the inside out). It’s not too far-fetched to think that they would use such a successful tactic on one of the few remaining roadblocks in their way, the opposition political party.
The ones who aren’t out-and-out infiltrators, are weak tea, there only for their own ambitions of personal power. If they had wanted to stop Obola’s lawlessness, they could have moved by now to do so. He’s only given them at least a hundred reasons, any one of which the rats would have a Republican president in the hot seat.
Between the left, the purported “right”, and the huge apathetic, uniformed, Free Sh*t Army middle, this country is nearing the bottom of its decline. The takeover of Congress by most of this bunch, nor the potential election of any of the likely GOP candidates, won’t stop it.
But I’m not gloomy. I’ve read The Book, and God Wins.
sick to my stomach.
