Lawyers have raked in more than $7.5 billion in fees from the federal Disability Insurance program since 2009, according to a Manhattan Institute report issued Friday. And that money has come directly out of the pockets of workers through the Social Security payroll tax.

Millions who lost their jobs and went through their unemployment payments, found a lawyer and claimed “disability.” This kept the lawyers employed, a win/win for both cheaters. The losers, of course, were the taxpayers, the real victim class in America..
No one I know regards doing SS disability work as profitable, in fact no one I know does this work.
However, the feds have been handing out disability checks like candy, buying votes for such ailments as “nerves”, having ADD, asthma, you frickin name it.
Guess who are some of the biggest democrat political donors?
Trial Lawyers...
SSDI has become a career path for many. It isn’t sustainable.
at $140 billion, the federal government now spends more on disabled workers than it does on education, housing aid, and food stamps combined.
“Permanent unemployment insurance or a general welfare program”
Two quotes from the article say volumes:
1. “Disability insurance has become more like permanent unemployment insurance or a general welfare program,” notes Tad DeHaven of the Cato Institute.
2. And it’s dampening economic growth, because those who go on SSDI almost ever rejoin the workforce, thereby shrinking the available pool of labor.
Volunteering as a triage interviewer at a local food/clothing bank, I speak with these folks all the time. SSDI has become the new welfare. If you can get on, entirely too easy if you’ve got a slick lawyer, it’s a monthly check for life. But the monthly checks don’t amount to much: around $721 for most folks I see.
$721 sounds like S.S.I., instead of S.S.D.I., S.S.D.I. is based on how much a worker has paid in, while S.S.I. is based on nothing at all. S.S.I. recipients need never have paid in a dime to S.S.
The REAL cure for America - Less Lawyers.
Our per capita lawyer count is a waste. Our frivolous lawsuits are a waste. Our liability insurances are a waste. Our alphabet gov departments are mostly a waste. Our representatives’ (mostly all lawyers) time is mostly a waste. Look at all the lawyers in your phone book.
Lawyers have hurt America badly.
A majority of disability recipients don’t deserve it. At the same time Congress is unconstitutionally taking monies from American, it could more simply use the wholly Constitutional Commerce Clause to break up local government monopolistic laws on licensing, permitting and zoning that stop people from working.
The jails need to make room for these sleaze ball lawyers.
They would not if SS Disability used logic instead of a the asinine way they do disability claims.
A guy in my Sunday School class was on the Disability list 4 yrs, guy needed a heart transplant had all his medical records, should have been an instant approval, it was denied time after time. So he had to get a lawyer after SS Disability turned him down. Lawyers get 25% off the top automatically.
But if you are an addict, act crazy your wait time is 8 months. Then you have the ILLEGAL INVADERS getting into the act.

IN rural Alaska, entire families are getting on disability. Pretty easy I hear, then they work all the other programs too. It’s unreal, they increase their payments by popping out kids on a yearly basis.
Comes to 250,000 a year joining the SSDI roll based on a $5k cap on lawyer fees. Fees only payed if you do join the rolls. Excluding those that con people out of other monies for the process that the law doesn’t allow for.
Additionally, I would assume that Doctors as a whole make more money in aggregate than the lawyers do just based on qualification tests and procedures.
When successful, the money comes out of the applicants initial SSDI check which is payed from the date of application, not the date of approval.
“A majority of disability recipients dont deserve it”

Many states add money to the federal check of $721, which will go up to about $731 on January 1.
Here in Washington state, I believe the supplement is over $60.
Plus, SSI recipients are eligible for Food Stamps, about $190 a month, so they take home close to $1,000 a month.
Plus, even before ObamaCare, SSI's were eligible for Medicaid.
I’d like to see a study on just how many millions lawyers have raked in from ALL of 0bola’s EXPANDED government programs.
Paybacks come in the form of “fees”.
