Incoming Senate Budget Committee chairman Sen. Jeff Sessions says that President Barack Obamas executive amnesty is something that is endangering our entire constitutional order as a democratic Republic.
President Obamas executive amnesty violates the laws Congress has passed in order to create and implement laws Congress has refused to pass, Sessions said in a statement. The President is providing an estimated 5 million illegal immigrants with social security numbers, photo IDs, and work permitsallowing them to now take jobs directly from struggling Americans during a time of record immigration, low wages, and high joblessness.
Sessions noted that Obamas specific actions were each rejected by Congress, and as such acting without congressional approval puts the U.S. system of government in jeopardy. Even though Obama and the White House claim that Obamas actions are backed up by each previous president dating back to Dwight Eisenhower, the previous presidents immigration executive actionsat least the Republican oneswere done in conjunction with the will of congressional approval. Obamas does not have congressional approval.
This amnesty plan was rejected by the American peoples Congress, Sessions said. By refusing to carry out the laws of the United States in order to make his own, the President is endangering our entire Constitutional order.
Sessions also hammered the specific detail of Obamas plan that allows illegal aliens to get green cardsand a fast track to citizenship and taxpayer benefits.

I don't think the republicans played this well. I think they should have down-played it before he spoke - 'Not much he can do', 'Can't rewrite laws', 'Obama himself said he has done all he can'.
When we look back on the Obama presidency, all we see is a sore loser. He won big in 08, lost in 10, and they passed Obamacare. Republicans (and Americans) are still challenging it. And it may not survive.
He won again in 12, and lost big in 14. Now he does one other thing - immigration exec orders.
2 wins, 2 losses, 2 sore-loser big moves. Neither will stand the test of time, and he will just continue to get smaller and smaller over the next 2 years. I think he will rage more, and continue to do more exec orders. Each will be more stupid than the last, and his desperation for a legacy will undo him.
Just my 2 cents...
The United States Constitution requires a vote of 2/3 of the Senators present to convict a President tried under the impeachment clause. What constitution did you have in mind?
The Sergeant at Arms could arrest all the Democrats, then the Republicans would have the 2/3 present that they need. (True, we'd demonstrate to all the world that we've become a Banana Republic, but didn't Obama already do that?)
My Congresscritter is calling for another rally at noon Dec. 3.
She must think I have unlimited time off and Obama’s travel allowance for all these rallies.
Right, he will do more executive orders and they will be permanently damaging. Each will be designed to further overload the system and push it toward ultimate collapse, immigration, climate change, helping Iran get the bomb, more wars, more deficit spending including just giving billions to various countries around the world, and on and on. Unless Congress stops him, what will be left and how much of it will ever be repaired or reversed?
Impeach? Yeah, right! Remove from office? You have a better chance of seeing God.
It's time that the free citizens of these united states take action and personally frog walk this tyrant out of the Whitehouse.
Got tar. Need feathers.
You do realize the “jury” is the Senate in this case right?
A lot of the things you listed he cannot do by himself. We have to give the new congress time to get seated, and then see what they will do. Cool heads and wise responses will go a long way.
He has engaged in apocalyptic rhetoric (immigration broken so bad I had to do something). I don’t think we need to respond in kind. If we say ‘end of the republic’, then his side will just entrench themselves in what he does. If we remain calm and say ‘this is not how America works. We must take measures x, y, and z to pull back his over reach.’
Need to explain to folks calmly and rationally. We will never reach those that Gruber correcly characterized. To those folks, no matter what Obama does, they will back him. But calm, reasoned response with gentle corrective actions will pull the middle our way (and sorely disappoint many of us who would love nothing more than impeachment, removal, and arrest of a petulant president who has earned it).
I say we pick our battles and win the war. Thru proper legislative action, ANY law can be changed.
And it requires a super majority (I think it's 2/3's but it might be 3/5's. I can't remember) to remove the POTUS from office. But either way a few democRATs are going to have to vote with the GOP. Assuming the RINOs don't defect.
Adolf Hitler admitted that if he had been challenged when he re-militarized the Rhineland in 1936 (a violation of the Treaty of Versailles) , his entire push for conquest would have ended before it started. World War II would have been averted. But no one challenged him.
yes, that is exactly the point.
I believe the states’ governors should start telling the feds to pound sand and try to enforce their illegal edicts. The businesses that allow this to continue should be severely punished.
Reapublicrats: making Dems look good 365/24/7. (except for a brave few)
then lets just impeach him. better than doing nothing.
violates the laws Congress has passed
Gee ya think?!?!
What about all the other crap he’s done that violates the law? Doesn’t any of that matter to Congress? Put up or shut up Jeff.
Revolts aren’t won by votes.
Actually they need 67. And that will never happen.
I’m afraid that would only be true if the legal system followed actual logic. As it is, the incoherent mess of “precedents” means largely that the government (and the judiciary) can decide whatever it likes, without regard for logic or for a public mandate. (Cf. Obamacare “tax”)
Now that’s an idea I love!
