Soon-to-be Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) told reporters on Tuesday, Our goal is to fund the government. [ ]
In response to another question, McConnell said, Its always appropriate for Congress to use the power of the purse. But he also noted that the president has an important trump cardits called the veto pen.
So, there will be ongoing negotiations in the various efforts to fund the government, both this year and next year, about priorities. This is not unusual. And we do have different priorities. And somehow were going to have to work out things and make progress for the American people.

With ‘friends’ like Yertle, we don’t need enemies.
We have met the enemy. He’s someone who used to be us.
The left has stolen a good number of words from the dictionary, and 'progress' is one of them. The word itself, to advance, to make headway, and so on, is fine. But, the word is essentially ruined. When I hear it, and some others, it's like screeching chalk on the blackboard. "Forward" is another... anybody that says they want to move "forward" IMHO are suspect.
we are a one-party country
In the context of the progressive agenda, that would actually make sense. Serves to show us who the almost-cryptototalitarians are.
I thought we WON two weeks ago.
“We” in terms of whom? The GOP-e won.
McConnell is the perfect example of the Peter Principle. Promote someone to a level where they display their complete inability to operate at that level, and unfortunately, at the cost of the organization.
These rat bastards are worse than the real rat bastards. You can tell they are paying NO attention to the American people. We need a colonic to remove the two legged fecal matter infecting this country
In the case of the GOP establishment types, is “used to be” applicable? The battle that Reagan waged against the GOP-e in 1976 comes to mind. Certainly it is evident how bad the GOP-e was by 1986 with respect to Simpson-Mazzoli (the former in that duo being a Republican).
Your goal is to bend over and take it without lube.
Any form of government?
The euphemism treadmill has been quite the tool for the left ever since 1848 at least.
I’m shocked. A GOP “Leader” adopting the “fight lying on your back with your tail between your legs” strategy. I never would have suspected.
Sarcasm turned off.
Whose tail? (For context, German “Schwanz” literally means “tail”.)
I am shocked! SHOCKED! A stinking Senator has gone back to business as usual! I do see it as an improvement over Dingy Harry (If only because it's a good sign the American people, at least, get it!). Mark Levine is right. Time to do an end run around these turkeys!
It sounded like a great form of government. I wish we had that now./s
So can we call him Mitch McCollector since he sees his main duty is to fund the government at all costs? I can hear some of you apologists say just wait till January when the GOP can really do something about this mess. Really? What, they’ll cave in even more? McConnell and Boehner do not inspire confidence. They’re status quo, back pocket politicians looking for compromise with the people destroying the country.
>>I always wondered how the Germans allowed things to go so wrong in the 30s. I have an idea now.<<
Great post...you are absolutely on the mark. Just step outta line and you’ll end up in a body bag or a 6x9 cell.
It will be reported that they found you with a cache of weapons and ammunition.
Once again, to the GOPe, it’s NEVER the right time to fight for anything.
