Appropriations panel: Defunding immigration order 'impossible' (GOP surrenders to Obama)

It would be “impossible to defund President Obama’s executive order through a government spending bill, House Appropriations Committee spokeswoman Jennifer Hing said Thursday.

Congress doesn’t provide funding to U.S. Citizenship and Immgiration Services (CIS), the agency responsible for issuing work permits and green cards. Instead, the agency is funded through fees.

“We cannot, literally cannot, defund that agency in an appropriations bill because we don’t appropriate that agency. That agency is entirely-fee funded,” Hing told reporters.

I share your views. Actually, I believe it is too late and I don’t think there will be a civil war. America has been changed.

The money they raise from fees doesn’t get deposited into the treasury, it goes into the agency’s internal budget. So, they don’t have to draw anything from the treasury in order to spend it.

Every dime that the government has is in the Treasury irregardless of what particular account in which it is held.

It Is Time For The Congress To Re-establish it’s constitutional authority

While the talkies, talk radio show hosts, need to remind “US” of this.. Members of the House and Senate also seem to forget. While those selected to head various federal departments of government are recomended by the incomming POTUS (president of the United States).

Such candidates are constitutionaly required to be approved by the Senate in a procedure known as advise and consent.. Those appointed then are also sworn to uphold, protect,serve, and support the constitution. Not the executive branch. .

Such appointees can and should refuse any executive order.Or allow the executive branch create a political appointee who over rides their congressional authority. Particularly. If and when that executive order is designed to ignore existing congressional legislation which defines a departments jurisdiction or specific purpose protecting the interests of the country . Which places the country in danger, or minimizes the value of citizenship, or places its citizens in clear and eminent danger.

Therefore they and their respective departments must be held answerable to both houses of congress which funds these operations. And, should be held in contempt, censure, and impeachment and the funds witheld if refused to comply.

So...pass a law prohibiting them from collecting fees, or from spending any money collected in fees on supporting illegals. Pass a law forbidding anyone given executive order amnesty from ever collecting SS.

They are getting tax money somewhere and somehow. If need be, eliminate it as a government agency. Pass an order requiring the head of HS to block enforcement.

Obama will veto, but there are other ways of making him suffer. Meanwhile, put it before the public eye: who wants cheap labor to replace American workers?

But if the funds for the CIS do NOT come from Congress( and so far we only have that committeepersons word ) Congress can not defund them.So CIS will be able to issue green cards to all the millions of illegals.

I’ve been doing this for some time. It’s a form of Going Galt. Minimize one’s contribution to the economy and government by minimizing both ones input and output. Produce litte, consume little. Pay minimal taxes.

And if you like, do like the moocher class and take as much as possible from the government. As you point out, if enough people would do this, especially the producer-class, the system would collapse.

Nonsense! Defund the administrators. If they don’t show up to shuffle the paperwork, receive the payments, apply the payments, pay the bills, etc., then things will be at a standstill.

Sen. Lindsey O. Graham (R-S.C.) winced as he listened to comments from Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) in reaction to President Obama’s plans to protect undocumented immigrants from deportation.
