An NBC News poll discovered that President Obama’s planned executive amnesty order is not overwhelmingly popular among Hispanics, while nearly half of all Americans oppose it. In fact, the margin of opposition among all Americans is greater than the marhin of support among Hispanics.
The casual assumption that Spanish-speakers automatically want to open the floodgates for illegal immigrants overlooks the vast diversity among people grouped together in a census category that assumes people from Barcelona are the same as people from Tegucigalpa. It also fails to recognize that people who came here legally, or whose ancestors did, may resent preference given to line-jumpers.
Here is what the poll says (emphasis added):
Nearly half of Americans disapprove of President Barack Obama’s expected plan to take executive action that would potentially allow millions of undocumented immigrants to stay legally in the United States, according to a new NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll.
Forty-eight percent oppose Obama taking executive action on immigration -- which could come as soon as later this week -- while 38 percent support it; another 14 percent have no opinion or are unsure.
Not surprisingly, these numbers largely break along partisan lines: 63 percent of Democrats approve of Obama taking executive action here, versus just 11 percent of Republicans and 37 percent of independents.
Latinos are divided, with 43 percent supporting the action and 37 percent opposing it. But the sample size here is small (just 110 Latino respondents), so the numbers have a high margin of error.
Note that the margin of error could go in either direction: even more Hispanics may oppose amnesty.

Legal Hispanics (Citizens) have to scramble and fight for almost everything. Jobs, housing, education and so much more.

Yep. I can’t imagine that legal Hispanic citizens want to compete with the illegals any more than the rest of us do.
There are a lot of single black women with multiple out there pulling in a good bit each month for SNAP. Likely, if they haven’t tried to get child support from ‘baby daddy(s)’, the government is not getting reimbursed for it.
What they all don’t realize is that SNAP is not and endless bin of money. It is finite, both at the Federal level (in the budget) and at the states level. When those pools of money the states have set aside for SNAP is fixed, the pool of SNAP recipients start getting REDUCTIONS in their monthly payments.
What does this mean? More illegals-now-legal means more SNAP, less money for the existing recipients. How about rioting for that instead of Ferguson....
They’ve got to know it’s bad for them, first, because of the competition for their rung on the ladder; second, because the crime levels in their communities will not go down; third, it will not make them popular with the rest of society.
You have that correct. One of the many sickening angles of the proponents of this.
They all are not as STUPID as Gruber thinks the rest of us are.
I know a lot of people in Texas that are of Mexican decent that are generations away from when their ancestors came to the US. None, not a one, wants illegals in the US. In fact, they are more radical about it than I am. They can’t stand the illegals and really look down on them. They see them as embarrassing and as people that do nothing but reduce the quality of everything in the areas they live in.
As such, Obama’s actions do not have much of a positive impact on Mexican and other illegals from Asia and other parts of the world.
Obama, of course, does not care where his millions of new imported Illegal Alien Democrat voters come from or how many other illegal alien communities he screws in the process.
How could Obama care if he screws Mexican and Asian illegals when he is already working to screw 300 million or so existing American citizens with his plans to obtain a permanent Democratic majority by demographically swamping America with third world voters beholden directly to Obama .
Obama’s plan not only goes against the interests of American citizens, it goes badly against the interests of Mexican illegals already in the USA and getting a pretty sweet deal under the radar screen.

Yep. And Obama was also counting on the “Republican War on Women” to be a winning strategy.
And we all saw what a loser THAT turned out to be.
Fact is - Hispanics are naturally conservative. And even as many Democrats are opposed to Obama’s amnestry plan; we should not be too concerned over some fringe Hispanic (La Raza) support for amnesty.

Would you, as a newly-amnestied alien, be wiling to work for minimum wage if you had $900/mo in food stamps, $4000/yr in EIC, low-income new housing (being built everywhere in TX), free medicaid for everyone in the house, $250/mo cash welfare, WIC, Obamaphones, etc?

I agree completely. But our side does have to avoid an hysterical reaction that radicalizes the issue more than it already is.
But as far as stopping him from doing this, I am at a loss. I don’t think a government shutdown is a good move.
If you truly want to end illegal immigration, you need to remove incentives. This does not mean building a 5 mile high wall with shark-patrolled moats and fully-automatic sentry guns.
The two steps would be an amendment to the Constitution specifying you are only a citizen if you are born in this country with at least one American citizen parent. Another step would be huge penalties on people who hire illegals, like perhaps a $50,000 fine for each illegal hired. And use maybe 20% of the fine as reward money for whoever ratted out the employer.
