Senior Republicans worry that party could misplay hand on Obamas immigration action
Republican leaders, anticipating outrage from their base over President Barack Obamas upcoming immigration move, have a message for their party: Dont use the I word.
Senior House and Senate Republicans dont want their rank-and-file to even raise the specter of impeaching Obama, fearing it would give Democrats a message to rally around as the presidents party is split over the hugely controversial move. Ahead of the upcoming announcement, top congressional Republicans are trying to find the right balance between expressing outrage and overreaching, hoping that the battle doesnt lead to either a government shutdown in December or calls among conservatives to impeach the president.
Texas Sen. John Cornyn, the incoming Senate majority whip, said Wednesday that the GOP response needs to be appropriate and measured.
Nobodys talking about the I word like the White House and others, Cornyn said. They would love for us to take the bait. Were not going to take the bait.
Impeachment and shutting the entire government down takes the focus away from him to us, said Sen. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina. There are some people in the conferences that will have their 15 minutes of fame over this. But the rest of us want a Republican Party that can compete across the board in 2016.
Michael Steel, a spokesman for House Speaker John Boehner, had a similar response when asked about impeachment: The speaker has said we have no current or future plans to go down that path.

To be honest, the constitutional solution to this executive action power grab is impeachment.
Unfortunately, we just don’t have the numbers to make it succeed (even if every single Republican is unified ).
2 of the biggest AMNESTY WHORES have now spoken.
It’s not a dirty word, it’s your DUTY.
As I was saying... I was being realistic.
No need to fight amongst ourselves.
Right now it needs to be discouraged.I don’t deny that he deserves it. But, until you get the people on your side it is a very rash and dangerous proposition. Lets investigate him thoroughly and then if we find grounds and the people are for it, do it!
Ordering the Won’s arrest and execution might be over reacting. Trying to hold him legally accountable is not.
If congress won’t do what they were elected to do why do we even bother talking/writing to them? When will we reach a breaking point when Americans get fed up enough and start shooting?
I predict that if congress doesn’t get their crap together they will have to have better security and may be afraid to walk among their constituents.
They need to repeatedly state the impeachable offenses on the floor of the House,
and say that even with these blatantly impeachable offenses,
“my good friends in the other party” will not do the right thing.
Let the democrats be the first to talk impeachment
Someone needs to give the nation a basic lesson from the floor of the House regarding the 3 co-equal branches of government and the responsibilities of each.
“Let the democrats be the first to talk impeachment.”
Exactly!!
Believe me, if the rest of the world could vote, he’d be gone. He is universally regarded as a lightweight buffoon.
The Peace Prize thing. I’ll but the Euroweenies wish they could undo that little gaffe.
could it be that the Rinos hope Obama does this?
They clearly want amnesty, but they don’t want the GOP to have to meet their electorate for voting for it.
The “I” word as it applies to RINOs is idiots. They are afraid to even SAY impeachment.
Frankly I believe Obama has already done more then enough to be impeached without even considering amnesty. Benghazi was enough as was the IRS as was Fast and Furious. Each one should have caused impeachment. Add the release of the 5 GITMO types for the traitor Bergdahl.
In other words they will do nothing and cash those checks from the Chamber of Amnesty.
How many people red the congressional record?
Searching GopE ... The American People do NOT hear You! Hear the American People Yet? No Secret, believe what you want GopE!

Yes. Whether or not its justified we still don't have the votes.
That being said, a shutdown-partial or full-needs to be on the table.
As for the people who say the GOP will be "punished" for a shutdown, they were "punished" for the last shutdown by expanded majority in the house and a takeover of the Senate..
Cowards or co-conspirators with the left? Which is it? Both!
