The Governor of the state, Jay Nixon, has declared a state of emergency and plans to mobilize the National Guard in anticipation of an imminent grand jury announcement on the Michael Brown case.
Tensions are high in the area, as residents, businesses and police brace themselves for another round of rioting in the mainly black suburb of St. Louis.
Their fears are well founded, as seasoned protest organizers are currently training activists to close in on and shut down the business district of nearby Clayton on the first business day after the grand jury goes public.
Michael McPhearson
The key activist to be watched is Michael McPhearson, co-chair of the Dont Shoot Coalition.
We, as a community of people, we arent going to use violent power, remarked McPhearson in a hall meeting of about 100 in St. Louis on November. 13.
Underscoring what he felt was the importance behind the continuing actions, McPhearson said, Were in a struggle that takes a long time to make things happen. In order for it to be a movement, we have to stay in it.
Julia Ho, of Missourians Organizing for Reform and Empowerment (formerly ACORN), addressed the same meeting. She has been busy training activists in direct action in preparation for the looming announcements.
McPhearsons protestations of non-violence lack credibility too, given his background and affiliations.
A field artillery officer in the 24th Mechanized Infantry Division during Desert Shield/Desert Storm, McPhearson left active duty in 1992 as a captain. Unfortunately, its all been downhill since then.
McPhearson became a leader of Veterans for Peace once a Communist Party USA front, but now infiltrated by radicals from several strands of US Marxism.
In the early 2000s, another old communist front, the ACLU was moved to send a letter to the FBI on behalf of McPhearson and various peace and Muslim activists suggesting they had been improperly monitored by the Bureau.
This was after McPhearson had traveled to Iraq as a Veterans for Peace delegation member in December of 2003, attended an international peace conference in Turkey in January 2004 and then a peace conference in Bologna, Italy, before returning to the U.S.
McPhearson, later participated in the 2008 national convention of the Black Radical Congress, an extremist organization made up of leaders of almost every major Marxist grouping in the country.
On September 21, 2010, McPhearson attended a gathering in New Yorks Warwick Hotel with then Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.
After an Iranian-style dinner, the gathering moved to a conference room where representatives from various organizations spoke on the plight of people inside the United States. The displacement of African Americans in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, the burgeoning prison-industrial complex, conditions facing political prisoners, the crisis in U.S.-Iranian relations and the overall economic crisis dominated the discussion.
Among the individuals and organizations in attendance were many affiliates of the pro-Cuba/North Korea and Iran Workers World Party, including Cynthia McKinney, a former U.S. House of Representatives member from Georgia and the Green Partys presidential candidate in 2008; International Action Center co-director Sara Flounders; former U.S. Attorney General Ramsey Clark; Million Worker March Movement organizer Brenda Stokely; Shafeah MBalia of Black Workers for Justice; Phil Wilayto of Virginia Defenders for Freedom, Justice and Equality; Larry Holmes of Bail Out the People Movement; plus Ardeshir Ommani and Eleanor Ommani, co-founders of the American-Iranian Friendship Committee; and Michael McPhearson representing the national peace umbrella group United for Peace and Justice.
After listening for an hour and a half to 22 different speakers, President Ahmadinejad addressed the guests for approximately 45 minutes. He touched on the international struggle for peace and justice, saying that trying to build peace is the most important and comprehensive struggle that mankind can have.
He added, Those who are opposed to justice are a few, a minority.
McPhearson also attended an anti-war forum entitled Syria & Iran: The Next War? which was held in New York on June 10, 2013, at the Solidarity Center. It featured anti-war veterans from the Iranian, Israeli and U.S. militaries and was organized by United for Peace and Justice, Veterans for Peace and the Communist Party controlled U.S. Peace Council.
The Workers World Partys International Action Center hosted the meeting and IAC co-founder long time WWPer Sara Flounders chaired. The meeting was designed to coordinate pressure against a war with Iran. All the speakers, including McPhearson, were members of the Veterans for Peace Iran Working Group.
While never admitting membership of any Marxist group, McPhearson is very close to the Communist Party USA to the point he is currently on the roster of Speak Progress, the Partys speakers Bureau.
Mcphearsonbbb
This is an honor reserved for Party members in good standing or very close sympathizers.
Michael McPhearson believes in peace and non-violence in the same sense Mahmoud Ahmadinejad does.
Peace, to Marxists and their radical Islamist allies means nothing short of total surrender to their agenda. Any steps necessary to achieve that state of peace, no matter how covert, or violent, are therefore, by definition, peaceful.
Missourians need to be prepared for a very intense outbreak of peace.
Anyone got a pic?

Lefties really believe that armed citizens who own homes & shops don’t have the b***s to shoot.
They want to shut down Clayton, which had nothing to do with the unarmed gentle giant's short criminal career, on the following business day. IOW, they'll make the GJ announcement on Friday after 5pm. That will give the cops and national guard the weekend to disperse the morons.
