Residents across southern Montgomery County and northern Warren County Sunday night heard three large booms.
The noises happened around 7 p.m., and prompted several calls to area 911 dispatchers and our newsroom.
One Miamisburg man said the loud booms sounded like an explosion, and that the last one sounded louder than the first.

Illegal (space) aliens leaving the USA in their UFOs...?
We heard a big boom in south central Ohio in October of last year. All the neighbors came outside. I though it might be a propane explosion, it shook the ground and everything. It was probably a meteor or some space junk. It was heard in several counties.
> correction.
been HEARD around the world.
There have been reports of strange sounds that make no sense around the world for several years now. They sound similar to the sounds found in The War of The Worlds movie with Tom Cruise. Some of them have been proven to be hoaxes and obviously used some of the sounds from the movie. Others thought it had to do with the HAARP system which theys say has been shut down for some time now.

I sort of took issue with it myself but I guess it is rare in that you might see it snow 100, 500 or a 1000 times and never hear thunder when it snows but then there will be that one time one does hear it.
Birth pangs.
Not rare here in Colorado
It is rare, but if you have ever heard it you will remember.
