We Kid You Not.
What does your anti-rape face look like? Last week Ramapo College in NJ told students that they should take preventative measures to avoid sexual assault by practicing anti-rape facial expressions. In a presentation to freshmen students by the schools coordinator of substance abuse and sexual assault prevention, students were advised on how to dress, how much to drink or not to drink, how to use body language to lessen the chances of assault, and that women should practice how they articulate their face in a social setting by practicing in a mirror. Um, WHAT?! Rightfully, students were pissed off by the victim blaming theme that ran through the presentation and have chosen to use humor to battle the ignorance. Taking to Twitter, students are posting their very best anti-rape faces, using the hashtag #MyAntiRapeFace. The school has responded and posted a mea culpa on their Facebook page, but it seems to us that they just dont get it.

As long as these facial expressions have been scientifically proven to avoid sexual assault, why not?
The problem that I have with using facial expressions in general is the following. After years of my own experience in trying to keep a straight face in certain circumstances, and watching others who likewise fail to do the same, my concern in that involuntary facial muscles might send mixed signals when trying to prevent sexual assault, lets call it a facial Freudian slip, inadvertently suggesting a yes instead of a no.

Wow. Father Time has beaten Zelda cruelly and unmercifully. Poor Zelda...there was a time long, long ago, when she actually resembled a human being. No more. Poor, poor Zelda.
“As long as these facial expressions have been scientifically proven to avoid sexual assault, why not?”
Because an actual rapist can simply put a pillowcase/bag/coat over the head of a victim. Making a funny face would be pretty low on the list of anti-rape methods. The women advocating this believe 100% of men are rapists.
Gals - watch your drinks. If you leave the room, get another drink.

Look at them teeth.
She's either british...
Or Mrs Ed.
Fact!
She fell out of the ugly tree and hit every branch on the way down.
no need to practice expressions, I would just pull my gun on them. Of course I have years of martial arts training, weapons training, and make sure I am aware of my surroundings.
Amen.
Sorry, but this verges on the liberal meme that rape has nothing to do with sex, so attractive or scantily clad women aren't more likely to attract rapists.
This is unfortunately untrue. It's based on the obviously false theory that terror and power can't walk down the street hand in hand with lust. There are lots and lots of men who are turned on sexually by dominating women, or dominating men, FTM.
This is all based on the liberal dogma that all sex is good, so if rape is bad, then it can't have anything to do with sex.
This is a world where BDSM is increasingly accepted as a legitimate sexual variant when involving consenting adults. (See the immense success of 50 Shades, 90% sold to women who obviously get a charge out of fantasizing being dominated.)
Why it is assumed that men who take BDSM to the logical next step of inflicting it on nonconsenting adults (or nonadults) aren't equally indulging in their sexual preference is beyond me.
IMO a taste for rape is a perverted sexual kink, and is one of many sexual kinks that are highly negative.
“You got a war face?”
“You do not scare me. Work on it!”
And these same lamebrains think they’re great at foreign relations and war.
“SAFE”!
Rape is not lust it is terror.
Elderly women are often raped. Women in their sixties through nineties.
It is terrorizing.
Men are raped as a dominance and terror tactic.
My point is that lust and terror/power are not mutually exclusive.
