Thousands Of Washington State Gun Owners Plan Huge Civil Disobedience Event
Truth and Action ^ | November 15, 2014 | Truth and Action

Posted on 11/16/2014 1:43:36 PM PST by Robwin

"We will rally at the capitol, openly exchange guns, unveil and plan to break apart the entire legislation and violate I-594 in every possible way … We will buy and sell guns from whom we please, we will not submit to background checks, we will not give up our rights, WE WILL NOT comply.”

Under I-594, transmitting a gun to someone in most circumstances – such as lending your gun to a family member or friend at the shooting range would constitute a felony. Many gun owners have transmitted their gun at one point to a friend or relative to try firing a gun. Washington State’s residents are gun owners. Washington has a population of almost 7 million people, and that means that nearly 2.3 million gun owners could now be felons for doing what they have done for years concerning guns.

What could the police going to do if 5,500 gun owners all commit felonies by transmitting their guns to each other at the same time? It would be impossible to try and arrest all 5,500. Local law enforcement even opposes I-594, and so do more than two-thirds elected county sheriffs in Washington. A recent contender for Yakima County Sheriff is assisting in setting up the gathering.

Until people stops coupling guns exclusively with bad guys, and recognizes that guns are what innocent people must use to protect themselves from the bad guys, rights – invading legislation like I-594 will erode our right to bear arms."

...”the right of the People to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed...”

(we seem to recall that was recognized and proclaimed somewhere or other, maybe on another planet?)

King and Pierce counties are blue, which is about all it takes unfortunately. More power to these folks, though.

If only we could do the same thing to shut down the IRS.

It’s inevitable.

Good for them. Take some ammo along too, just for effect.

Having spotters withh long range scopes and cameras to take photos of surveillance and snipers placed around the event might be handy so that you can circulate it among The People. You know they will be there.

It would be even more effective if you have a picture of the government sniper in position, in the cross hairs delivered to them. Knowing that, in the event shooting started, they would be the first to die, they would suddenly get VERY interested in being somewhere, anywhere else.

It would be great if a bunch of people with 80% guns would openly exchange them. There would be no way to prove ownership.

Mmmmm.

Does the law apply to people that are not Washington State residents?

In Washington state you will need to pay the $45 and do a background check at the gun range to rent a gun if you are over 18 years old - it is a transfer. Even wanting to hold a gun at the gun store before you buy it is a transfer. And it needs to be done for each gun.

The law does not affect kids under 18 as long as they are with an adult that is supervising them. And I’m pretty sure that it could only be loaned to them at a visit to a regulated gun range. No plinking at the local gravel pit. And there is some question as to what does “regulated” mean. There are zoning laws, but not like there are strict things that the gun ranges need to follow in how they operate.

However, I won’t be able to let my 20 year-old son use one of my guns.

Don’t know. Just thought it’d be fun if the turnout was even larger than planned.

It is - and I think most people will figure it out later. After it is too late. Like Obamacare.

The trouble is, it was sold as a background check for purchasing guns. Probably 90% of guns sold in WA already had background checks - even at the gun shows. (You need a background check to join the gunshow club, then you can go to the shows and buy and sell).

You can buy and sell privately, but it is still against the law to sell to a felon and others. So most sellers require you to show them a CCW permet or something before they will sell to you.

I believe the law will take effect on Dec. 4, 2014 when the vote is made official. Or perhaps the first of the year?

Like that saying goes, democracy is a sheep and two wolves deciding on what’s for dinner. Or in this case, one wolf with a lot of money (Bill Gates, Balmer, etc.) and two stupid sheep.

You don’t need to own a gun to learn to shoot. As a matter of fact the gun ranges in my state have courses for that, you can rent the gun. You can even have kids birthday parties at the range.

That is appropriate, but what would be better is mass public gun exchanges with written sworn declarations and videos. Newsies invited.

That is how students at UC Santa Cruz (I was one) in either the fall of 1968 or spring of 1969 dealt with a threatened morals crackdown on everyone ignoring the nominal ban on having opposite sex students in our dorm rooms. At the time the on-campus dormitories were segregated by gender.

We just set up room-mate swaps with opposite gender dorms, to convert a given two-person dorm room from two of the same sex into one of each sex. We even matched people by cleanliness and personal compatibility.

Then we invited the local newspaper and radio stations up to watch us trade rooms, interview the participants and receive copies of the written lists with names, etc. The UCSC administration caved in within 30 minutes of receiving our press release and associated documents, aborted the threatened crackdown and abolished the existing policy excepting overnight stays. All without any of us having to actually change rooms.

So mass public disobedience to this new law, inviting prosecution and giving wide publicity to thousands of people openly defying the law, is the way to go. It works.

The Washington voters who backed I-594 have placed a significant part of that state’s population at the mercy of the good will of those in power.

We’ve all seen abuses by petty officials shutting down kids’ lemonade stands because they didn’t have a license, or PTA-type bake sales because of some imagined health violation.

We are going to see similar examples of bureaucratic overreach, but this time on steroids. I give it six months to a year (if that) before some otherwise law-abiding citizen is facing ruinous legal costs fighting a misdemeanor or even a felony charge due to the same mindset. All we need is an overzealous petty official or a politically ambitious DA to get the ball rolling.

Welcome to the Brave New World, courtesy of Bloomberg and the rest of the monied liberals - and the gun rights organizations who didn’t offer a competing BC law without the 4473 linkage.

It’s a movie, as in fiction, make believe.

Not sure what your point is, but suspect we are on the same side of the issue.

Let me give you some context for my post.
Movie = history.
Gun control = tyrants.

Lived and worked in the snow of Washington on occasions during my life and thoroughly enjoyed it. Seattle, however, with its multitude of card carrying communists, supporters and sympathizers qualifies as a sister city to both Chicago, the birthplace of the CPUSA, and more recently NYC. (For comparison, Haiphong, North Vietnam is officially a sister city.)

So, in my view, if any government in this day and age was to implement the draconian measures set forth in my post above, Seattle would be at or very near the top of the list. I.e., it is not at all a fictitious possibility.

But, as my post suggests, this time the size of the public response would likely lead to unexpected consequences
