Momentum is building in the House in the GOP caucus to attach a rider to the Continuing Resolution that would fund the government until the end of the fiscal year that would defund agencies charged with implementing President Obamas coming executive orders on immigration.
The amendment would almost certainly be unacceptable to Democrats in the Senate. This would set up a showdown with the White House, giving President Obama and the Democrats the option of failing to fund the government past December 12, leading to a shutdown.
The Hill:
I am insisting on that [rider] because the president is violating his executive privilege, GOP Rep. Paul Gosar, who represents the border state of Arizona, said in an interview Friday.
Rep. Ted Yoho (R-Fla.) called the plan to block the executive action through the government-funding bill a great idea. Rep. Dave Brat (R-Va.), who defeated then-Majority Leader Eric Cantor in the June GOP primary in part by accusing his opponent of supporting amnesty, said he also backed the proposal.
Asked if a government shutdown would be worth halting Obamas immigration action, Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa) replied: When you take an oath to uphold the Constitution, it is not appropriate to contemplate the political consequences. You should uphold the Constitution come what may.
The call to arms by conservatives is a challenge for GOP leaders in both chambers, who also oppose executive action by Obama but acknowledge they have not settled on a plan to stop it.

Britt Hume on Fox Sunday said no way on this proposal. He said that it is vetoed, the GOP/Whigs will get blamed for it. In other words, get elected, go to Versailles on the Potomac, collect your paycheck, do and say nothing, get reelected, repeat process.
In a way I like what Reid did and wish there were 10 more like him. Less bills = more freedom. There are already enough bills out there to over rule 10 countries worth of citizens. The last thing needed is thousands of more bills/laws. We’ve got more than enough already.
Or maybe he won't. He would be happy to see the country burn, so the GOP needs to think this through to the bloody end and what they might have to do to save the country from the tyrant.

Well, at least one person seems to own a pair.
only in the beltway is the idiotic notion that the gummint shutdown was either real or harmful to Republicans. They are so obsessed with their little crony city.
Instead of meeting with and having luncheons at the White House, the round the clock demands for the removal of this individual from office should be deafening.
Harry Reid putting them in his desk drawer, never to see the light of day, is not the way to do business.
And isn't it like 80% of the government remains open anyway.
Only the President can shut down the government.
Just go ahead and cut the head off the snake. Impeach him already. He is without a doubt the worst president to have ruled over the United States; the other ones served in that capacity... : )
DING DING DING!! WINNER WINNER!!
I wouldn’t call it a shutdown. It’s funding the necessary branches of government. The candy is extra...
EXEMPT Congress is just too busy kissing up
to the Moslem Brotherhood and Wall St. banks, and
they who Demand the EXEMPT Import Diseases.
They should:
Impeach. Demand documentation.
Impeach. Convict.
exactly
fund everything else (at last years levels)
That last government shutdown really hurt the GOP in the election a few weeks ago (sarc).
I think the voters respect politicians who stand up for their principles.
Because maybe Gruber was partially right. A large percentage of the American people do seem to be either too stupid or too lazy to do anything about it and the ones who could do something about are living too comfy because of their relationship to the political system that rewards them to do nothing they don’t do anything about it.

Government is the biggest employer in the entire nation now. There are millions on the government payroll.
So there ya have it.
The American public, in general, do NOT WANT AMNESTY.
Any party who opposes it, by ANY MEANS, will be rewarded.
