DUMPED: A mail carrier dumped hundreds of GOP political mailers in a recycling bin behind a Neenah apartment complex just days before the November general election, according to federal investigators. The mail carrier, still not identified by the U.S. Postal Service, could face criminal charges, an official tells Wisconsin Reporter.

No ID on the carrier? I would think they would be proud enough of their contribution to want to be identified.

Nothing will happen to him. The postal union won’t allow it and everyone these days is a coward.
He needs to be handled in an old fashioned manner.

Isn’t tampering with mail a federal offense?

It wasn’t political, he just didn’t “feel” like delivering the mail? How often does this happen? Every Christmas? What if someone hadn’t observed this crime? What would have happened to this mail then? Is this a regular practice?
At the very least, this postal worker should be fired.

Yes, tampering with the mail is a federal crime.
This is being swept under the carpet. The U.S. Postal Inspection Service is the law enforcement branch of the Postal Service. But this "investigation" is being conducted by the Office of Inspector General, an internal office in the Postal Service. This guy says he may not involve the feds at all. I don't know what some local prosecutor could do but I know he couldn't prosecute a federal crime.

BS Alert:
An official with the inspector generals office told Wisconsin Reporter it appeared the postal worker wasnt politically motivated, the employee just didnt feel like delivering the mailers. The postal carriers love the campaign mailers (and junk mail) because it keeps them in work. I have not talked to one postal carrier that did not say they really appreciate getting campaign mail to deliver.

Whoever paid for the flyers should sue the postal carrier for the cost of the items and the cost of postage, plus punitive damages. And if they lost the election by a reasonably slim margin, they should sue for whatever they can get in regards to the potential job loss, etc.
