White House used Mitt Romney health-care law as blueprint for federal law
NBC ^ | Oct 11, 2011 | Michael Isikoff

(Oct 11, 2011) Newly obtained White House records provide fresh details on how senior Obama administration officials used Mitt Romney’s landmark health-care law in Massachusetts as a model for the new federal law, including recruiting some of Romney’s own health care advisers and experts to help craft the act now derided by Republicans as “Obamacare.”

“The White House wanted to lean a lot on what we’d done in Massachusetts,” said Jon Gruber, an MIT economist who advised the Romney administration on health care and who attended five meetings at the Obama White House in 2009, including the meeting with the president.

In addition to Obama himself, the meetings attended by Gruber were presided over by the president’s chief economic adviser, Lawrence Summers, then budget director Peter Orzag and Nancy-Ann DeParle, the president’s chief adviser on health care, the records show. Gruber was also given a $380,000 contract by the Obama administration in 2009 to work with Congress on drafting a new federal law based on the Massachusetts law, records show.

Romney opened the door to both Obamacare and fag-marriage, helping ‘transform’ America into the current sewer it has become.

May both Obama and Romney rot in hell.

Thank you for referencing that article Ray76. Please bear in mind that the following critique is directed at the article and not at you.

RomneyCare was appriately based on 10th Amendment-protected state power to regulate, tax and spend for intrastate healthcare purposes.

Federal Democrats and RINOs, on the other hand, wrongly ignored that the Constitution’s Article V requires Congress to propose appropriate amendments to the Constitution to the Constitution to the states before establishing things like Obamacare Democratcare. And if the states had chosen to ratify the Democrat’s healthcare amendment then Congress would have had the constitutional authority that it needed to establish Democratcare and the Democrats would be heroes.

However, note that one member of Congress, who evidently took his oath to protect and defend the Constitution seriously, had introduced a resolution to propose an intrastate healthcare amendment to the Constitution to the states in compliance with the Constitution’s Article V. What is really troubling is that he had actually repeatedly introducted the proposal long before (and after) former Speaker Pelosi and the Domocrats irresponsibly rammed Democratcare through the HoR, the proposal repeatedly ignored.

"Proposing an amendment to the Constitution of the United States regarding the right of citizens of the United States to health care of equal high quality." —H. J. Res. 30.

It is plenty relevant, but it is nothing new to those who reject 0care and have rejected it from the beginning. This is a matter of obtaining more stout proof of what was already known. Because people hostile to 0care, even after cursory research, realized that 0care was modeled after Rcare early in the game. There were plenty of admissions at the time. OK, now they have more sound (in more ways than one) evidence that what they already hated is not only a bad deal for them, not only was sold to them on a lie, but was sold to them on an even bigger bigger bigger lie than they already knew.

There’s little question in my mind that the underlying rejection of 0care automatically made Romney an impossible-to-elect candidate. Over and above his many other defects.

“We have no idea what affordable means right now,” said Jonathan Gruber, an MIT economist who advised the governor and the House of Representatives on health reform. ‘’This is a great piece of legislation. I don’t want that to get lost. But it does leave some things uncertain.”

Compulsion to contract is illegal.

And it's a failure. But it failed as a state initiative. Which is my point. States can do as many dumb things as they want.

There were a lot of Freepers demanding Obamacare.

It amazes me that someone can make such a stupid statement and not be called out on it. Hell, that anyone can make such a stupid statement and then click "post".

So basically Dems are admitting they:
1). Are feeling the heat re the unpopularity of Obamacare and must blame someone else.
2). Have no original thoughts of their own.

IN other words,

Jonathan Gruber was correct.
