(Oct 11, 2011) Newly obtained White House records provide fresh details on how senior Obama administration officials used Mitt Romneys landmark health-care law in Massachusetts as a model for the new federal law, including recruiting some of Romneys own health care advisers and experts to help craft the act now derided by Republicans as Obamacare.
The White House wanted to lean a lot on what wed done in Massachusetts, said Jon Gruber, an MIT economist who advised the Romney administration on health care and who attended five meetings at the Obama White House in 2009, including the meeting with the president.
In addition to Obama himself, the meetings attended by Gruber were presided over by the presidents chief economic adviser, Lawrence Summers, then budget director Peter Orzag and Nancy-Ann DeParle, the presidents chief adviser on health care, the records show. Gruber was also given a $380,000 contract by the Obama administration in 2009 to work with Congress on drafting a new federal law based on the Massachusetts law, records show.

Romney opened the door to both Obamacare and fag-marriage, helping ‘transform’ America into the current sewer it has become.
May both Obama and Romney rot in hell.
RomneyCare was appriately based on 10th Amendment-protected state power to regulate, tax and spend for intrastate healthcare purposes.
Federal Democrats and RINOs, on the other hand, wrongly ignored that the Constitutions Article V requires Congress to propose appropriate amendments to the Constitution to the Constitution to the states before establishing things like Obamacare Democratcare. And if the states had chosen to ratify the Democrats healthcare amendment then Congress would have had the constitutional authority that it needed to establish Democratcare and the Democrats would be heroes.
However, note that one member of Congress, who evidently took his oath to protect and defend the Constitution seriously, had introduced a resolution to propose an intrastate healthcare amendment to the Constitution to the states in compliance with the Constitutions Article V. What is really troubling is that he had actually repeatedly introducted the proposal long before (and after) former Speaker Pelosi and the Domocrats irresponsibly rammed Democratcare through the HoR, the proposal repeatedly ignored.
"Proposing an amendment to the Constitution of the United States regarding the right of citizens of the United States to health care of equal high quality." H. J. Res. 30.
Compulsion to contract is illegal.
It is plenty relevant, but it is nothing new to those who reject 0care and have rejected it from the beginning. This is a matter of obtaining more stout proof of what was already known. Because people hostile to 0care, even after cursory research, realized that 0care was modeled after Rcare early in the game. There were plenty of admissions at the time. OK, now they have more sound (in more ways than one) evidence that what they already hated is not only a bad deal for them, not only was sold to them on a lie, but was sold to them on an even bigger bigger bigger lie than they already knew.
There’s little question in my mind that the underlying rejection of 0care automatically made Romney an impossible-to-elect candidate. Over and above his many other defects.
Yea it older, but I still the fragrant bouquet of vindication. It smells like...
Vindication.
That said, There sure do seem to be a lack of the Freeper Left posting today amidst all this Romney/Obamacare news coming out. How very odd. I wonder why. I do.
He should never been on the ballot last time and no way again in 16!!
“We have no idea what affordable means right now,” said Jonathan Gruber, an MIT economist who advised the governor and the House of Representatives on health reform. ‘’This is a great piece of legislation. I don’t want that to get lost. But it does leave some things uncertain.”
And it's a failure. But it failed as a state initiative. Which is my point. States can do as many dumb things as they want.
Romney is a statist Commie.
Wait, what...
Who’s this Gruber guy?
He clearly wasn’t directly involved... the good senator told us so...
State or Federal: compulsion to contract is illegal.
It amazes me that someone can make such a stupid statement and not be called out on it. Hell, that anyone can make such a stupid statement and then click "post".
What a joke.
Kennedycare.
The name changes but the song remains the same.
So basically Dems are admitting they:
1). Are feeling the heat re the unpopularity of Obamacare and must blame someone else.
2). Have no original thoughts of their own.
IN other words,
Jonathan Gruber was correct.
Make the country of origin pay for the cost of illegal aliens in America. Will fix two problems at once.
Who ... Mitt, or the White House?
I say both.
Yep. Voting for a loser as a means to vote against a different loser is a loser's game all around. Heads they win, tails we lose.
