Russian propaganda. Based on simple physics, it’s 100X more likely that a ship could fry a close-by passing jet than the other way around, due to vastly greater power and much bigger arrays.

The part about 27 crew trying to quit? Pure Russian propaganda.

This is bullshit cooked up by the Russian media and passed off as fact by morons.

And there are plenty of morons who believe it, even here at FR.

The Soviets are 10 feet tall and made of titanium.

In other words, surprisingly light for their size.

Also, all the crews’ credit card mag stripes were erased, the ship turned pink, and all the mens’ penises shrank two inches. Oy!

Dayum.

Of course, if mine shrank two more inches, I would officially become a woman.

“ased on simple physics, it’s 100X more likely that a ship could fry a close-by passing jet than the other way around, due to vastly greater power and much bigger arrays.”

The Aegis could microwave cook the pilot in his metal craft, if the EWO was so inclined.

Probably a lot of propaganda in this. But don’t forget, that before WWII, we denigrated the ability of the Japanese to fight us. In reality, they came up with a superior fighter (Zero),
more modern ships, much better torpedos, etc.—while we were stuck with outmoded and sometimes non-functioning weapons systems.

(And, they captured Singapore, which was thought to be unconquerable.)

Maybe the Russians aren’t 10 feet tall, but it is best to assume that they aren’t midgets, either; and be prepared to meet them.

That brings to mind the Russian propaganda about the Ukrainian flagship’s captain and crew agreeing to surrender when they returned to their home port of Sevastopol after returning from a NATO exercise.

Somehow the captain and crew must not have been in on the agreement. When they returned they put in at Odessa instead going to the Crimea.

I suspect the Cook went dark and did not light up the Russian bomber when it approached. No reason to give intel for free.

Our captain once got a Russian warship to activate their fire control radar. Lots of congrats after that.

Do you really believe in this pitiful attempt at propaganda? I have worked on Combat Systems and various Intel Systems as a contractor for the Navy and the NSGA and I can tell you that article is a bunch of BS.

Meh. Look up the EC-130H Compass Call. I flew on ‘em over 20 years ago. If anything emits a signal, it can be jammed.

My guess is that if the Russkies have it we have it also. We probably just keep it quiet.

Directed EMP.

The fix for this is to fire upon detection.

But it's a terrible fix.

Kinda like MAD.

So do I. Presently. For the USS Donald Duck. We're flipping out over here.

" I was on the USS Donald Duck when it happened."

Laz

No sh!t?

Did the systems come back up after the aircraft left, or were they permanently damaged?

As far as I can tell this is the “original” story:

http://web.debka.com/newsupdate/7877/printversion

Is it just possible the ship shut down the E systems to prevent the plane from gaining detailed intel on them?

"There will come a day where the Russians and Chinese get cocky and they will have the punch to not back down."

The calculus for sinking a US Warship at Sea always comea down to this:

Are you willing to trade Nuclear Weapons with the USA?

So far, nobody is.
