As the jockeying for the 2016 Republican presidential nomination begins, a familiar debate will be playing out: Should the party pick somebody ideologically pure, or go with somebody more centrist to win independents?
This analysis of the choice confronting voters is misguided, however. The two possibilities are not mutually exclusive. The reality is that the only way Republicans can win the White House and make a play for independents is if they nominate somebody who is a real conservative.
No, this isnt about assuming a fantasy world in which independents overwhelmingly support every major conservative policy goal. Nor is it about crafting a strategy geared toward firing up the base of the party.
Its true that typically, when this argument is made, its based on the idea that in any election, the most important element of a winning campaign is to be able to energize supporters around a message. Those are the people who will be donating, knocking on doors, putting up signs, posting on social media, persuading their friends and relatives, and making phone calls on Election Day....

My Dream Ticket? Cruz/Walker. Now then we can take Wisconsin, Ohio and Maybe even Michigan?
GOP can only win presidency by nominating a real conservative who supports JOBS FOR AMERICANS.

To win in 2016, the GOP better grow some cajones like yesterday.
Picking s centrist worked so well in the last two elections.
Did you forget ‘92 and ‘96?
Tha last time the Republicans nominated a Conservative, he took 49 states.
No question.
Constitution.
Jobs will follow. If we were a corporation, it would work like that. anytime we go outside the constitution, to the left OR right, we get into trouble.
The jobs and creativity will follow.
Jeb is like a nail
we can only hope for a fraud free election next time! then we win.
No more Bushes, No Rubio, No Rand Paul, No Christie, No Huckerbee
History does repeat itself...when Repubs run as Conservatives, they win. Now they can run as REAL AMERICANS and not lawless, America-hating Marxists....long story short.
I am currently toying with a Cruz/Haley ticket, but in addition, have a WHOLE TEAM running, so Cruz would say who he is going to be putting in top cabinet positions.
Ben Carson as HHS secretary is a good example. How about Dan Patrick as AG!
Then you have a crack team who can tackle the in depth policy questions and make mincemeat out of cankles!
the dems could nominate Big Bird and still get 45%. That shows their level of intelligence.
I cannot wait for the fake freepers to come out swinging for Jeb Bush, “he’s the only one who can beat Hillary! If you don’t vote for him, you’re a Hillary supporter and a Dummie plant!”
America demands Justice for the Fallen of Benghazi! |
No Shiite Sherlock.
They won't last long, JimRob had a short fuse with Romneybots last election cycle.
They’re sometimes very sneaky, just attacking Cruz subtly etc.
