He was a big conservative hopeful for a few years. Was on the cover of National Review at least once.

I voted for Phil Crane in the 1980 (R) primary. Liked him better than Reagan at the time. A longstanding ideological Jack Kemp ally

I don’t remember Rep. Crane, but he sounded like a good guy.
Rest in peace, Congressman.

He was Mr. Conservative and it seems there was always a 100 beside his name in the conservative ratings. He was very handsome and very intellectual. He authored a great book called THE SUM OF GOOD GOVERNMENT.
I met him on a couple of occasions. He was very unpretentious and very nice to an awkward young (back then I was young) conservative. His brother Dan was also a great conservative congressman.
The world seems like a smaller place now that Phil Crane is gone.

He came to talk to a group of Teenage Republicans at our get together in DC in 1979 (and I think 1980 as well). All of us were very impressed.

RIP. Sadly, he stayed longer than he should have and was battling the bottle, which didn’t help in his loss to Bean.

Rest in Peace Phil Crane. We met him when he campaigned for our congressman in NC. So many other good conservative congressmen, Steve Simms, Bob Bowman, Larry McDonald, Phil Crane. They formed a Truth Squad and toured the country, spreading the truth about democrat lies. Good guys all.
Dr. Crane, Phil Crane's father, had a syndicated newspaper column, helping families and couples both medically and psychologically. We liked his old fashioned remedies and common sense advice, now with the spiffier name of Holistic medicine. He was of course, up to date on modern medicine and approach.
The Cranes were quite a productive family with traditional American values. Bless them all.
