Why The Democrats Lost, If They Really Did

The Democrats suffered a political slaughter in their loss in the midterm elections, at least by conventional metrics. The Republicans gained seven seats in the Senate, a number in the House, and four governorships. The Democrats managed to pull off only one upset in the state of Pennsylvania. Never before, since the state began allowing two gubernatorial terms, has a sitting governor lost a challenge. A veritable political bloodbath.

Notice how the clueless democrats refuse to believe they really lost. The "veritable political bloodbath" mentioned was a republican losing the governor's race in PA. No where is mentioned the gains the GOP made in black and hispanic representation. But what is mentioned twice is how not many people voted, meaning that if more had voted the socialist party would have swept back into power. Also notice how Dear Leader Obama is never mentioned. Do these people live in reality?

History says they should be optimistic - they have suffered several such humiliations in the past and we never managed to leverage them to our long-term advantage. Whenever they regain control, they double down and our side rolls over.

Let's hope that we learned something and keep up the pressure and momentum.

“Gov Corbett lost Pennsylvania because he signed a bill raising the PA gasoline tax 27 cents a gallon (across 3 years) on top of the 52 cents that Pennsylvanians were already paying.”

The CT Socialist (Malloy) also presided over the biggest tax increase in state history, including an increase in the gas tax. Energy costs more in CT than in most any other state. Further, the 2nd amendment was stomped on. Yet the clueless voters of CT still sought little reason to oust this Mini-Obama. Yes, no doubt, the cheaters in Bridgeport, New Haven and Hartford made this more likely, and Foley was as bland a candidate as one could imagine. However, the CT voters certainly weren’t in the same mindset as their Pennsylvanian counterparts.

You said...
“There are a lot of Democrats young and old stunned by what happened. Democrat leadership needs the MSM to pump out as much disinformation as possible to provide folks with a reason to stick around.”

Um...nailed it. All these stories that try to dismiss what happened are only to keep the Democratic base from jumping off cliffs, which, BTW, the news media is part of that base

I actuality "not voting" is itself a vote.

Oh, but Madigan still gets to keep his seat of obstruction and union-catering. BTW, don't look now, but Rauner is planning to phase out the tax increase - over TEN YEARS.

Improvement? Yes, but IL government still sucks. As an Illinois resident who's trapped here due to my economic situation - Just sayin'

“Why The Democrats Lost, If They Really Did”

Democrats: “We win when we win; we win when we lose”. (See, “1984” by George Orwell)

Awesome!

BTW, the Democrats really DID lose.

That would have certainly boosted his credibility in my book!

We basically have two years to install voter ID in as many place as possible before non-citizen voting changes the equation.

Dear Republicans:

Congratulations on your recent win over your “good friends on the other side of the aisle” last Tuesday. You ran a very wise and crafty campaign. Basically, you said that you weren’t Obama. There was no talk of repealing ObamaCare, securing the borders, banning travel from Ebola-spawning nations in Africa, reducing the national debt, cutting spending, or anything else those of us in the Tea Party movement would like to see. You won because America finally realized Obama and the Democrats are an existential threat to America. We hope you don’t overlook the fact that millions of Tea Party conservatives held our nose to reelect the same lifelong congressional Republicans who have done nothing to solve any of our problems or fight to stop Obama’s destruction of our nation.

We in the Tea Party realize you in the Republican Elite hate us. We “hobbits” have heard you say publicly we are “bullies” who need a punch in the nose.” The man who wants to punch us in the nose was last week begging for our votes.

In Mississippi, your actions were nothing less than despicable. To save the geriatric hide of lifelong politician Thad Cochran, you ran ads on black radio stations telling gullible black voters that those who supported Chris McDaniel were “Nazis, KKK members, and racists.” We’ve heard those accusations before? We’ve heard them everyday since the Tea Party inception in 2009 from Barack Obama, Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi, Charles Schumer, Charlie Rangel, Elijah Cummings and their ilk in the mainstream propaganda media. Congratulations! Cochran won and will continue to vote for every debt limit increase, continuing resolution, and pork package you throw his way. He admitted to screwing farm animals in his youth. Now he screws the American taxpayer.

You despise the Tea Party because we dare demand Congress exercises fiscal responsibility. You see yourselves as kings and our ruling elite who cannot be bothered by the unwashed hoi polloi. You only want our votes every two years. We know that. But the times they are a changing.

The Tea Party has a difficult time distinguishing Republicans from Democrats these days in Washington. And when a true conservative like Ted Cruz has the cojones to do something to stop the legislative madness you and your friends on the other side of the aisle have created, you do everything possible to stop him!

The Tea Party is tired of voting for the less worse candidate. You have received the Tea Party vote in the past because you were marginally less evil than Democrats. Now we can’t say if that is true after watching you use the same despicable tactics to defeat Tea Party conservatives in the primaries. That is coming to an end. So are our loyal votes.

Many Tea Party conservatives voted Libertarian in the general election. Many have publicly declared, AWD included, that we will no longer support big-government, moderate Republican puppet candidates. I will not vote for Jeb Bush, Mitt Romney, Chris Christie, or any of the other Democrat-lites you wish to serve up as the latest cannon-fodder for the Democrats in 2016.

You won big last Tuesday. It could be your last victory ever. We are closely watching every move you make to take down Obama and his minions who have run roughshod over our Constitution and YOU! We do not seek bi-partisanship. We do not want you to compromise with the Democrats or Obama. The only reason we want you to reach across the aisle is to grab Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi, or any of the other socialist by the throat and squeeze. If you “go along to get along,” the Tea Party will not support the Republican Party any further. You have counted on our vote in the past because we had no other options. That is changing.

We have replaced many old RINO geriatrics in Congress with fiscal bulldogs dedicated in bringing sanity to Washington. We are growing. We are learning. We are getting better at funding and campaigning. We are dedicated. Yes, you have all the corrupt corporate and Chamber of Commerce money but you are old and dying out. Our new leaders are young and have fresh ideas to repair the damage you and the Democrats have done to America for generations. And they have our full backing.

If there was ever a time to eat your Wheaties, now is the time, Republicans. We expect you to be bold and uncompromising. How can you negotiate with communists? How do you negotiate with a murderer? Negotiate that he will only make you a paraplegic but spare your life? The Democrats are murderers. Killers of individual freedoms, national wealth, military strength, and fiscal sanity! You must kill them before they kill all of us!

Quite bluntly, Republican Establishment, I despise you. I have had to count on you. And you have failed in nearly every instance. You have no more chances to make it right with the conservative base of your Party. It’s show time. Do something big and dramatic. Grow a pair and do something good for those who pay the bills in America. The moochers have had their time. It’s OUR time now.

You were not elected last Tuesday because we like you. You were elected because we fully realize the danger to our existence Obama presents. We are not prepared to stand idly by any longer while he “fundamentally changes” America into a third-world hellhole as you have done. We are patriotic, determined, and many. And we will fight and, if necessary, die to protect the Constitution. And you better believe we fully understand why the Founders gave us the Second Amendment.

Republican Establishment, you are on notice. Do the right thing or be gone. Our patience is up. We cannot wait any longer. We will not believe your promises or contracts with us. We will monitor your actions and act accordingly.

Samuel Adams saw this over 200 years ago when he said:

The liberties of our Country, the freedom of our civil constitution are worth defending at all hazards: And it is our duty to defend them against all attacks. We have receiv’d them as a fair Inheritance from our worthy Ancestors: They purchas’d them for us with toil and danger and expence of treasure and blood; and transmitted them to us with care and diligence. It will bring an everlasting mark of infamy on the present generation, enlightened as it is, if we should suffer them to be wrested from us by violence without a struggle; or be cheated out of them by the artifices of false and designing men. Of the latter we are in most danger at present: Let us therefore be aware of it. Let us contemplate our forefathers and posterity; and resolve to maintain the rights bequeath’d to us from the former, for the sake of the latter. — Instead of sitting down satisfied with the efforts we have already made, which is the wish of our enemies, the necessity of the times, more than ever, calls for our utmost circumspection, deliberation, fortitude, and perseverance. Let us remember that “if we suffer tamely a lawless attack upon our liberty, we encourage it, and involve others in our doom.” It is a very serious consideration, which should deeply impress our minds, that millions yet unborn may be the miserable sharers of the event.

And never forget the words he spoke from the Pennsylvania State House:

If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude than the animated contest of freedom – go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains sit lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen!

We are watching! You are officially on notice.

And if Mitch McConnell wants to punch this Tea Partier in the nose, he better bring friends and his lunch!

BTW, don't look now, but Rauner is planning to phase out the tax increase - over TEN YEARS.

You must've missed the part that the "temporary" income tax increase EXPIRES on Jan 1, 2015. Madigan and Cullerton have already gone on record as saying they will not bring it up for renewal during the lame duck session, and Quinn also (begrudgingly I'm sure..) also said the issue should be left to Rauner.

So my question to you is: since the "temporary" income tax increase of 66% is set to EXPIRE on January 1st, *before* Rauner takes office, how is he going to retire a tax increase -- that no longer exists -- over a 10 year period?

This is what he's said, and I don't trust someone who's a big pal of Rahm Dead Fish and I sure don't trust Madigan. I'm thinking he's got a deal with Quinn to bring up a slow phase-out before 1/1. Yeah, they've said they won't bring it up "for renewal" but I'm familiar with IL doublespeak too. If they decide on a phase-out, that isn't a renewal, is it?

I'm just not very trusting these days. That tax increase hurt me and my business (33% hike) pretty bad and every Democrat and their mother has been spouting off about how bad dropping the increase will be for the IL budget.

This is what he's said..

During the campaign when it became known that Quinn was going to move to make the tax increase permanent and increase it, yes Rauner said he'd phase it out over 10 years.

Rauner won. The "temporary tax increase" expires January 1st. Both Madigan and Cullerton said it's not coming up for renewal. Therefore, the "temporary tax" expires on Jan 1st.

Nothing Rauner can do about it at this point other than let it expire. That will mean he has to make the tough decisions on budget cuts sooner, rather than later --- and that's a good thing.

Pray you're right. I know what Madigan and Cullerton have said. However, Magigan has gone back on his "word" and screwed us before, Rauner is no conservative and there's still over a month left to go to change how the increase is eliminated. They said "no renewal; they did not say they wouldn't change the way the tax expires. I truly hope I'm wrong and you're right.
