The long-shot candidate for Congress has increased his lead over incumbent Democrat Jim Costa. The latest numbers give Republican Johnny Tacherra a boost.
It's still a 50-50 split, but with the latest figures from Merced County, Tacherra now leads Costa by 741 votes, out of more than 80,000 votes counted so far. Tacherra led Costa by 736 votes on election night.
However, thousands of votes in Fresno, Merced and Madera counties remain to be counted.

McSally has an uphill climb due to the county (Pima) still unreported in Arizona. Its an illegal hotbed.
Tacherra is a pro-marriage, pro-life, anti-amnesty conservative, mentored by Tea Party candidate for California governor, Tim Donnelly, who gave establishment loser Neil Kashkari a headache in the primary.
If Johnny wins this (and it looks like it will depend on Fresno), it will be a BIG Tea Party upset.
In the words of another Freeper, “This is still well within the margin of corruption”.
Wow, 700 some odd votes.
This is hopeful. At this time in 2010, Costa had already pulled ahead in the vote count.
742 democrat votes will soon miraculously be found in a basement somewhere.
Why aren’t the votes counted? I was a poll worker where we had paper ballots. We counted 5,000 ballots in about an hour and a half every election.
It appears to me that the only reason the votes aren’t counted is because some cheating is going on.
I think they are all provisionals. When the races are this close, they have to count the provisionals. They are taking their sweet time on it. I do not doubt fraud. Tacherra ought to lawyer up.
Have no fear the RATS will find the votes, they’re probably
working overtime this weekend.
