That village is only one of her homes. I don’t know how many she has in total, but I saw a different huge one on cliffs overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Gigantic, with 8 or 9 chimneys.

Rob Reiner explains why we need Measure R
“I’ve seen this very rural, rustic beach community turn into a destination for chain stores—a shopping destination—with growing traffic problems. That’s why we desperately need Measure R” - Rob Reiner — in Malibu, CA.

http://www.malibutimes.com/news/article_ce87cd32-64f5-11e4-aa30-13d02eec5c22.html

Measure R proponent Rob Reiner released this statement early Wednesday:

“Last night’s election result is a major victory for the residents of Malibu, all of whom now have a stronger voice over the future of our community. Measure R will help preserve the unique character of Malibu and combat increased traffic and the destruction of open spaces by giving voters a say on the 1.5 million square feet of commercial development currently planned in the heart of the city and on future development plans.

I would like to extend an enthusiastic thank you to all those who signed petitions to place Measure R on the ballot, who volunteered on the phones and the streets and, most importantly, who voted for this historic new law for our city.”

I’d tend to agree with your assessment. But there may be much more to the stats than what we see here.

But yes a 2.36m home would translate to 94k in annual mortgage payments (plus prop taxes) at a 4% rate / 30 yrs. Not too attainable with 136k gross annual income.

I sincerely hope the next time a big storm trashes the Malibu coastal homes, no one volunteers a damn thing, and not a cent of disaster money to these NIMBY elitists.

Whole Foods may have a liberal customer base, although I shop there occasionally, but the CEO has come out strongly critical of Obamacare and global warming fanatics which is good enough for me.

Idiots in Vermont have done the same sort of thing with stores like Kroger.

The end game is to force the po peeps who can’t afford to shop elsewhere out of the hood.

It was, until the CEO said this: “ Whole Foods CEO John Mackey criticized the Affordable Care Act, saying that the “escape clause” incentive to employers will only create a growing class of part-time workers – a shift his company is already making.”

Didn’t “Rockford” live in Malibu and in a trailer no less?

I recall seeing in a couple of scenes where you got just a glimpse of the bottom of the trailer. It had no plumbing.

Applies to big box stores in general. I can’t say I blame the residents as big stores and shopping malls ruin beautiful scenery.

Oh please, they wouldn't dare let such a downscale business open up in their city.

I think the preferred vehicle to drive on trips to the market is a Range Rover or G-Class Mercedes.

Based on a casual perusing of the Kardashians tv show.
