Is the Affordable Care Act Working?

After a year fully in place, the Affordable Care Act has largely succeeded in delivering on President Obama’s main promises, an analysis by a team of reporters and data researchers shows. But it has also fallen short in some ways and given rise to a powerful conservative backlash.

I oppose Obamacare. For me and my husband, our Medicare Advantage plan premiums stayed the same as last year.

It’s worked out great for us.

In a mere 13 Months, our Health Care Coverage Premiums only increased a paltry 50%.

My sincere thanks go out to Pres__ent Obola, Nancy Piglosi and Harry (the Undertaker) Reid.

My mother’s MA plan premium is going up by about $20/month. Not a huge amount.

I just relocated to Texas from California in August. My husband lost his job in November 2013 and he had no luck in finding a job.
We sold our home and moved to Texas because it is cheaper and we are hoping he will have better luck with employment here.

Funny, I don’t see anything about the outrageous cost to Taxpayers or the fact that one out of every four Doctors aren’t participating.

Lies and propaganda right before the election. Like the bogus job numbers. I’m shocked, SHOCKED!

I suppose it depends on your measure of success — given that the citizens of the US haven’t dangled congressmen from lampposts in outrage at being extorted by the Frankensteinian fine/tax and burned alive the black-robed god-kings that pushed that monster on the rest of us… yes, it has succeeded quite well.

Meanwhile my company healthcare plan is going from $447 per month for 2014 to $852 per month 2015. This is for the exact same coverage. I guess I should be happy I can still get it because the Co. is cutting the plan for new hires or anyone who does not have it already. The other 2 plans are horrible and to me do not count as insurance! It is not just me either, Most of my friends are having the same problem and we are NOT wealthy!I don't know what to do! Is it working? Maybe for someone but not anyone I know!

No is the answer. The years are fading from me but my daughter lost her healthcare on December 28 the year it all was to go down. She received a letter from her employer dated Dec. 28 stating such and her new hourly requirements.

She and her husband are now without insurance. Well...yes, they could get insurance @ + $750/mo with $8000 + deductible. No they do not have insurance as they once did. They are not going to pay a deductible more than their insurance. They did not buy into Obama Care (as he, Obama, fondly likes to call it) but chose to be without.

The place I work for has always had an excellent health plan—until last year that is. Last year, our plan was changed to an Obama compliant plan and I don’t know a single one of us who’s happy with it. Our annual deductible went from $250/y to $1500/y, our DME copay went from 20% in plan/50% out to 50% in/80% out, all three tiers of our formulary copay increased 100%, Our standard office copay was $20 in plan/$30 out and is now $30 in/$50 out, our provider pool decreased quite a bit(two of my six Doctors are now out of plan), our maximum annual out of pocket increased from $1000/year to $4500/year.

We have some people who were hit pretty hard because of these changes, my one young coworker especially. She has two preteen kids, both with childhood health issues, one epilepsy and the other has lupus. Their dad is in jail for 10 years and she’s pretty much on her own. She’s actually considered trying to get fired so that she can go on social services because she would actually come out ahead financially. There are really only two things keeping her here, her pride, and the fact that our company is covering her tuition to help her finish up her degree.

The government does not know for sure how many of the people gaining coverage under the Affordable Care Act were previously insured or uninsured.

Journalists are just insufferable. Constantly pretending to be honest and partial distributors of the truth, well every last one of them are rabid far left socialists.

That's the dirty little secret. Many people have signed up for Medicaid style plans, but no sane doctor would be STUPID enough to take it.

Lots of these "success stories" don't speak of people who paid a month's premium, then decided even that was too much.

So a foolish doctor who treated a patient after the Medicaid policy expired get... NOTHING.

They do however get all of the liability if something goes wrong.

Lawyers. What's not to love about them?

The entire reason Obamacare or single payer will never work in the US is that there is absolutely no protection for doctors.

In glorious paradise countries with single payer, the loser pays in a malpractice case, so lawsuits are rare.

These countries also have rationed and delayed care, which NO American would tolerate.

The result equals a complete crashing of the system.

When I read “after a full year in place” I stopped reading. The employer mandate has been delayed until after the election. My son, just married, has a $5,000.00 deductible policy so he puts off certain things. So while having insurance he can not afford health Care!

What percentage of Americans are now dependent on a government subsidy to afford their health insurance?
