Not exactly what C-SPAN expected to run right before airing someone from the Center for American Progress.
A self-described 82-year-old black senior citizen grandmother named Joyce called C-SPAN to explain why she voted for the Republican candidate in every race on the ballot this cycle.
I voted straight Republican because I have noticed for years what the Democrat Party has done to my people, she said. Unemployment is higher in the black community that it is double with unemployment than it is anywhere else.
Theres no way I could continue to say Im a Christian and stay with the Democrat Party, she continued. They advocate the killing of babies and taking from the doers and giving to the ones sitting doing nothing.
Clearly Joyce is…
1. A racist
2. Not really black
3. Suffering from false consciousness
Welcome, Grandma. Please bring many of your acquaintances along with you, and God Bless you
Yes, she is the same Joyce, “the sage of Sunnyside.”
She called in to Michael Berry’s show yesterday morning and they talked about her call into C-Span.
This is the third article I’ve read regarding her call. One incorrectly assumed that she was a new convert to voting Republican, but we in Houston know that she has been voting conservative for many years. I’ve heard her call into Rush’s show and seen her on Fox News as a guest contributor during the Clinton administration.
Ya gotta love Joyce, full of life and energy.
The call-in Thugs can't hold a light to Joyce in a debate.
At 82, she can let go of black PC and speak truth with much less worry.
BTTT for this grandma!
Nothing new. I’ve known elderly blacks from decades back who have voted against the free ride crowd.
Black economist Thomas Sowell is about the same age as Grandma Joyce.
Here is what he remembers:

EXCERPT:
“... the last year in which the black unemployment rate was lower than the white unemployment rate 1930 was also the last year when there was no federal minimum wage law. Inflation in the 1940s raised the pay of even unskilled workers above the minimum wage set in 1938. Economically, it was the same as if there were no minimum wage law by the late 1940s.
In 1948 the unemployment rate of black 16-year-old and 17-year-old males was 9.4 percent. This was a fraction of what it would become in even the most prosperous years from 1958 on, as the minimum wage was raised repeatedly to keep up with inflation.”

So, these folks who lived through the times when blacks were actually CLIMBING THE LADDER OUT OF POVERTY also remembered when the whole positive trend REVERSED. It was LBJ’s War on Poverty.
That is exactly what I was thinking. I’ll rejoice when others stop separating themselves from the rest of us Americans. WE are ALL in this together.
