Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s Ebola quarantine policy is drawing strong opposition from people who work closely with him on another infectious disease: AIDS.
New York State’s imposition of a 21-day quarantine on health workers who have had contact with Ebola patients in West Africa “is not supported by scientific evidence” and “may have consequences that are the antithesis of effective public health policy,” according to a letter released Monday with signatures from over 100 H.I.V. activists, researchers and clinicians.
They consider the state’s quarantine policy unacceptable even though, as Governor Cuomo announced Sunday night, affected people will be able to serve their quarantines at home. Mr. Cuomo initially announced the quarantines on Friday, jointly with Gov. Chris Christie of New Jersey. The quarantine policy has come under heavy criticism from public health experts, including Dr. Anthony Fauci, who heads the National Institutes of Allergy and Infectious Diseases.
“I’m disgusted and livid,” wrote Peter Staley, a prominent H.I.V. activist and one of the letter’s organizers, who was appointed just two weeks ago to a gubernatorial task force on H.I.V.

In the meantime, the Italian govt is forcing our troops returning from Africa into a 21 day quarantine. That includes an Army General.
I wonder if this type of thing is covered in our Status of Forces Agreement with Italy?
Well, whodda thunk it? This, from the group that screams “risky behavior.”
AIDS was not affecting politicians, so they could pretend.. but with Enola, you bet NYC Bloomberg or Cuomo types are frightened by germs.
This is the hypocrisy of liberals with respect to gays.
They are miserable people, filled with self-hatred and they think that harming others is some sort of justification or compensation for it.
This actually explains most liberal policies, if you think about it.

I guess Obama just told Christie he doesn’t have state’s rights to quarantine.
Nice to see the bug chasers have a new bug to chase...
Shilts was spit on for stating this long after it became known that gay sexual practices were the principal disease vector, which is doubly ironic in that he was gay himself and ended up dying of AIDS.
It’s nice to know that some poor Child ended up with AIDS through a Blood Transfusion way back when because some Dude felt the need to stick his Penis up another Guys Rectum for recreation.
Then again, it is all about them after all. No problem.
Just realized my Tagline got screwed up. The fix is in.
They should open their homes to these folks.
