Sarah Palins PAC is extremely stingy when it comes to donating money to her fellow Republicans: a report from Open Secrets reveals that since the 2014 two-year election cycle began, her PAC has raised a total of $2.7 million dollars, but only donated $150,000 of that money to actual candidates, a donation rate of 5.5%.
This year was even worse: according to SarahPACs third quarter filings this year, they had $1.4 million cash in hand, but only donated $45,000 to nine Congressional candidates about 3% between July 1st and September 30th. What did they spend the rest on?
Many of the same consultants she has used all along for speechwriting, fundraising, logistics and research. Theres even someone paid to consult on coalitions. Travel, presumably for Palin, is part of the equation; a PAC like this is useful for keeping a high profile nationally without having to pay those pesky airline and hotel tabs out of personal funds. And the PAC sent $10,885 to HarperCollins publisher of all three of Palins books for books for donor fulfillment. That wasnt the only book purchase by the committee: A lump sum of $13,000 was listed as being spent for lodging, SUV rental, books for donors.
According to OpenSecrets, Palins PAC is notoriously parsimonious, noting that of the 417 leadership PACs that made at least one contribution in that cycle, SarahPAC was one of only 19 to give less than 10 percent of its total expenditures to candidates, other PACs or party committees.
They also note that many of the candidates shes donated to in this quarter are either extremely long shots or no longer in the running. For instance, she donated $5,000 to Joe Miller, a Tea Party candidate who attempted to run for the US Senate seat held by Democrat Mark Begich. Miller lost to Dan Sullivan in the GOP primary, but Palin has not seen fit to donate to the Republican nominee, who is locked in nearly a dead heat with Begich, Open Secrets observed, and added that Palin herself has only donated $628 to a federal candidate in her entire life.
SarahPAC has yet to publicly comment on the story.

PACs usually make their own ad buys or educational outreaches, not in coordination with candidates. This is a nothing story.
We have something called free speech in this country. Anyone can spend their money express an opinion on any race, anywhere.
The real issue is bang for the buck. I’d wager that Palin delivers more than most.
As always.
Maybe its 5% because the total donation is high and also the fact that she couldn’t find anyone she esp like

I would suspect quite a few republican candidates aren’t deserving of any of her PAC money. It would be like funding her own enemies.
She should save it up to donate to the 2016 presidential candidate of her choice.
When is “Mamma Grizzly” going to get a real job for a profit-making company?
Exactly!!!
She’s actually being WISE with where the money goes!
How NOVEL!!!
I was thinking that she had probably decided not to donate to candidates who didn’t want her endorsement.
You mean like Fox News or the Sportsman’s Channel?
maybe she is saving the PAC money for 2016?
I can see a PAC saving its assets for a really key race. Especially when the political party its most associated with might withdraw its support.
We’re talking to $2.7 million. That would hardly influence ONE Senate race and only a few House races if her PAC spent it all without thought for having a lasting impact.
not enough real conservative candidates to contribute to?
Still it sounds bad..... really bad
Why give a Tea Party guy only $5000. when you have raised several million$?
I don’t care where the story came from...
if she is spending $ raising $ so she can spend more $ raising $ ....its time to stop the charade
I wonder what’s up also. Why are FReepers posting these stories so frequently? It seems the Left loves their people devotedly, but we love to destroy ours.
So? As someone who has given to SarahPac numerous times, I’ve always assumed the vast majority of the donations go to costly travel expenses, to and fro speeches and campaign events, along with other incidentals. The actual aspect of ‘campaign contributions’ has always been a smaller aspect of a such a PAC, compared to transportation and ginning up publicity for endorsed candidates.
And considering the rancid plethora of GOP-E dunderheads, there’s really not all that many candidates that merit such contributions, anyway.
I am in a solidly conservative Congressional District in TX. I give money to a Neighboring Congressional District which was Republican, but went Dem when that District's lines were redrawn.
I don’t donate to the GOPe either.
