In the 38 years since the Supreme Court re-instituted the death penalty, only three convicted murderers [all of them white, by the way] have been executed. The last was in 1999. Pennsylvania has no death penalty for all practical purposes.

I have a few choice words for Ed Rendell, but I won't use them here. To be fair though, other governors, including Republicans, haven't exactly embraced the death penalty.

In Mumia’s case, I believe his death sentence was reversed on appeal. So some of the blame falls on stupid judges.

The current governor, Corbett, just signed an execution order for Richard Baumhammers, who killed 5 people in cold blood during a shooting spree back in 2000. Wanna bet Baumhammers won't be executed?
