In their descriptions of the various programs on the fair and balanced network, they try to sell Shep as a hard-news guy. I've even heard him allude to that characterization concerning himself.
I don't generally watch his show because he comes across as an arrogant little fart, but the times I have watched have caused me to scratch my head at the claim that he's a true (neutral) news reporter. I found it extremely unprofessional when, during the Blagojevich era, he always used the phrase "Planet Blago" to introduce those segments. He seemed quite amused with himself as his expression turned to a mirthful smirk when he uttered the phrase.
In recent days, I have heard two people comment on Shep's appropriate assessment of the media's overkill of the Ebola coverage. Uh, Shep's assessment? Isn't a hard-news person supposed to give you the facts and let you sort them out and draw your own conclusion? Yes, yes. I know. In a perfect world, that would be the case. And we certainly don't live in a perfect world. But I consider these statements revealing, so much so that they put the reputation of FOX News' hard-news division in the basement with the other news sources we love to hate. Unless FOX had a "Commentary" label on the screen when he made these assessments, they need to stop trying to sell him as a real news guy. I don't give a flip how big and fancy his "news deck" is!
So my question is, do you believe FOX is being deceptive/disingenuous in their claims about Shep?
He is a queer who reports the news. I have no idea of the state of his pekkar when he reports the news.
And I saw Bill O described as a conservative journalist. Uh....no....
Journalism just ain’t what it used to be. We don’t have real journalists anymore. They all report personal opinion as fact. And they get their marching orders from the White House and/or the liberal Republican hierarchy.j
They must know him really well.....................intimately, in fact................
Well, yes... it WOULD be ‘hard’ for ME to call him a reporter! :)
He’s pretty typical of the Lavender Mafia, with his drama queen hysteria and such...
Shep both drives, and keeps me away whenever and whatever he appears on.
I do remember a drive time radio show beating to death a Smith misspeak.
Reporting a some anti Jenny-from-the-hood protest, I guess Shep meant to say "curb job", but only got the "job" part correct.
I think that might indicate his state of mind.
I see what you did, with those two words in the same sentence
Shep Smith is a snarky little creepazoid.
: )
Shep’s specialty is doing the play-by-play on LA car chases. His big story was propagating lies about the horror of hurricane Katrina in The Big Easy nine years ago when the clueless local government failed to perform mass evacuation of tens of thousands of clueless people living below sea level.
Shep Smith is touted as a Hard Head Fool
He’s a freaking entertainer who is not very entertaining.
Oh for...
How can FReepers not get Shep?
Is he gay?
Most likely.
Does he do news?
Yup...BUT...
His claim to fame is that HE WAS THE FIRST NEWS “JOCK!”
His “style” is more DJ than news reporter. Of course he reads a prompter and listens to an IFR but he also says what he wants. Many news junkies don’t like that.
Personally I kinda like it. “kinda” instead of “kind of” is an example of traditional speech as opposed to how Shep delivers.
More conversational.
You don’t like it...don’t listen.
Here’s an example from when I did radio news more than I do now.
Not always but often if there was a story about the Pennsylvania legislature giving themselves a pay raise I’d frame it like this: “Well, the boys in Harrisburg are at it again. Yup, gave themselves another pay raise. When? Middle of the night last night of course!”
The traditional broomstick in the butt version would be more like this: “The Pennsylvania legislature last night passed a bill giving themselves a pay raise.”
Am I editorializing? Yup. But one of my jobs was to hold an audience. My version did that more than the stiff version.
That’s what Shep does and he does it well. I really don’t care about his private life as long as he keeps details private.
It’s kinda like David Venable on QVC. Not someone I would want next to me in a foxhole but even though he presents a gayish persona, I watch his In The Kitchen With David and his recipes are pretty durn good.
Those people were not clueless. They stayed behind for one reason and then decided to blame the fed when the looting was over.
I wrote Fox to complain about Sheppard’s show being touted as a ‘news show’ when he continually makes remarks that are clearly his opinions, not fair and balanced news.
He’s the network’s leftist and I guess they don’t know how to stop him.
He is a propaganist.
There are no “hard news” reporters on any cable news networks, in my estimation. Probably not any on tv news at all, except perhaps at the local level.
