Warning that Americans are losing faith in their government's ability to stop Ebola, Republican lawmakers on Thursday pressed for a ban on travel to the U.S. from the West African outbreak zone. The White House said other measures are more effective.
The administration spent the day trying anew to tamp down fear as the pool of Americans being monitored for symptoms expanded from Texas to Ohio. President Barack Obama said he might appoint a single official to lead the nation's efforts against the deadly disease.
While a contentious congressional hearing focused on the three cases of Ebola diagnosed within the U.S., the World Health Organization said the outbreak in West Africa was on pace to top 4,500 deaths by the end of the week.

The flights should have been stopped months ago!
And an elevated temperature can indicate anything from Ebola to a badly infected ingrown toenail.
Elevated temperature by itself is MEANINGLESS.
Obama has rejected a travel ban. He’s letting them in here, Ebola or not, to infect Americans. Will we see liberals trying to blame a major outbreak on Bush?
Exposing U. S. Citizens is now considered more affective than banning entry to infected nation’s passport holders.
Shouldn’t Obola get a Nobel Peace prize er something for this?
If stopping people from coming here actually makes the ebola problem worse, shouldn’t we also do away with the quarantine for people who have it? After all, that will make it worse/s
Oh great, an Ebola czar. That’s gonna inspire confidence among the American people. Let me guess another (in) competent medical officer like Dr. Frieden will head that operation.
You know why it’s meaningless?
Because if you don’t have a temperature you can still be infected, and your temeperature can spike while you are on the flight.
Plus, they are now beginning to show doubts about whether you can or can’t transmit the disease before symptoms appear.
So you have no fever. You may be able to infect people anyway.
Good grief!
Y'all keep yer powder dry . . .
A traitør’s noose, more like.
Obama doesnt want to blocks flights from Africa because it might interfere with his African legacy according to an article I read on Yahoo news yesterday.
I’ve been reading comments at the end of all kinds of articles and man, the general public is pissed at O’Bola!
His legacy will now be President O’Bola. That’s going to be it. He’ll be responsible for horrible, excruciating deaths. Even his peeps won’t like him if O’Bola doesn’t do the right thing and shut down those flights. If he does that soon ( he just refused to this evening of course), he will have some wiggle room out of full blame. Right now, he’s totally to blame.
Jamaica had enough common sense to impose a travel ban..gee, those Jamaicans must be racist huh Obama
Never let a perfectly good disease go to waste?!

if they don’t want to stop flights from ebola land, quarantine all arrivals when they arrive into the US.
Our President obviously does not have good judgement!
If this continues to ramp up, Obama will eventually ban those flights from West Africa - then, with the media’s help, he will try to blame Republicans and conservatives for his failure to ban them earlier.
The 21 day (some say it’s is longer) incubation period can defeat any measures that are now being implemented. ANY!
The rationale being offered up by Obama is brazen doubletalk that none in the media will challenge to his face. He is looking the American people in the eye and telling them a lie that he knows that they know is a lie. But he is the president and that makes it permissible. He has a phone and a pen and no opposition from Republicans, only timid suggestions.
I’m sure he will start new freebies for Holder’s People.
I think he will come to regret his death grip on open borders. This will not end well if he doesn’t give in on that policy.
Ding, ding, ding... we have a thread winnah!
