Health care workers at Inova Loudoun in Lansdowne are currently testing a patient who is presenting symptoms of the Ebola virus, according to Tony Raker, spokesperson for Inova Healthcare Systems.
Raker said Inova is in contact with the county health department and the Centers for Disease Control at this time. He could not provide further details on the patient.
A release from the county says Loudoun County Fire and Rescue took an inmate with a low-grade fever from the Adult Detention Center to Inova Lansdowne Hospital. The patient had traveled from Ebola-affected areas of West Africa within the past 21 days.
As a precautionary measure, because the inmate had traveled from a high-risk area known for Ebola outbreaks, the inmate was isolated and monitored at the ADC. Out of an abundance of caution, protective measures were put in place and EMS transported the patient to the Emergency Room in the Basic Life Support unit.
It's not known what the woman was arrested for and if any Adult Detention Center deputies or inmates were in contact with the patient.

Test came back negative.
1. 60 days' quarantine - a recent study showed that infectees can remain asymptomatic for as much as 42 days (and 2% even after that!). 2. Crater every runway longer than 1,000 feet within 500 miles of Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leon (and, apparently, Uganda - it has a Marburg outbreak). 3. Bring the American military in these countries to an offshore oil platform, or an abandoned base in the middle of nowhere for 60 days. All the food they want, cable, internet, new clothes, the works. 2 months leave and a $10,000 bonus when they get out. 4. Airdrop supplies to these countries with instructions in multiple languages and pictures. 5. Airdrop Frieden into these countries - no instructions needed, no cellphone, no money. Perhaps implant a tiger mating call into his skin where he can't reach it. THAT is an abundance of caution.
Only when one of the "elite" or a family member gets it will they take it seriously.
Over and done with. It's been 26-27 days and the likelihood of anyone still incubating from Duncan's flight is zero.
not only is he letting them in but he;s also sending Americans there.
He did say he was "really good at killing people".
“Over and done with. It’s been 26-27 days and the likelihood of anyone still incubating from Duncan’s flight is zero.”
It’s not zero, but probably pretty close. That 21 day incubation period covers about 95% of the cases. Fourty-two days brings it above 99%.

Ah, well, yes, but if it's already too late, there's no need to stop travel, now is there???
Bring Out Your Dead
Post to me or FReep mail to be on/off the Bring Out Your Dead ping list.
The purpose of the Bring Out Your Dead ping list (formerly the Ebola ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.
So far the false positive rate is 100%.
At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the Bring Out Your Dead threads will miss the beginning entirely.
*sigh* Such is life, and death...
A lot of their staff live near that area.
Remember, it isn’t the politicians who run things, it is the bureaucracy.
Thanks for the ping!
