Frieden: More Protective Gear for Health Care Workers 'Not Always Better'

(CNSNews.com) - "We're always looking at ways that we can better protect Americans," CDC Director Dr. Thomas Frieden told Fox News's Megyn Kelly on Tuesday.

But that does not include banning travel to and from West Africa, where Ebola is epidemic, he said. Nor does it include more layers of protective clothing for health care workers.

"You would go into a highly infectious patient's room without covering your head, with only wearing one pair of gloves and with your feet exposed, you would do that?" Kelly asked Frieden.

More is not always better. Better is better. Sometimes you put on more layers, it's harder to put on, harder to take off, you increase your risk of exposure. That's what the science tells us

I work with radioactive materials. I work in a nuke plants. I have to wear PPE in accordance with the risk. This guy has no idea what he is talking about.

1. Assuming that you put the PPE on yourself before entering a risky area, how does "it's harder to put on" increase risk of exposure? If it takes a week (or a month) to put the PPE on, but you're not in an ebola room, just how are you going to catch ebola?

2. I thought that he might make the argument that more layers makes it more difficult to perform your tasks in the high risk area. He does not. He makes the argument that it makes it harder to get the equipment off. BS. It is all tape and plastic. It is more important to take it off correctly, for which more layers are beneficial, in case an error is made.

3. I would like to know what "science" he believes is telling us that wearing insuffficient PPE is less risky.

The man is a charlatan.

Ok, that is sad.

So many people did get sick from desert storm. Whether from chem warfare or neurotoxic vaccines, it was a travesty.

This government / media is so braggadocio and yet when the SHTF they are useless. And I am including republicans. We need to go back to a slim organization of government mainly for defense and let people run their own lives.

“Look at That!! So vomit/saliva/urine/blood or feces spray is dangerous in the eyes but OK on the hair or neck?”

Just be sure not to rub your or neck nor rub your eyes or rest your nostrils on your fingers after exposure.

Dr. Frieden also spearheaded the “control and prevention” of rats in NYC. Google http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/3214256/posts to see how that worked out.

He completed training in internal medicine at Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center and sub-specialty training in infectious diseases at Yale University. One brother, Jeffry Frieden, is a noted international political economist and the Stanfield Professor of International Peace at Harvard University.[1] His other brother, Ken Frieden, the B.G. He went to Columbia University. And, who else did? Nuff said.

Google The Frankfurt School for Columbia U’s links to anti-Americanism.

“That’s what the science tells us.”

Beating EBOLA requires more than being a morgue reporter citing statistics after the fact.

Pure BS. In the HOT ZONE, they describe 3 layers of gloves, full body suit, and suits connected to air tanks. They also use sticky tape. Then several decontamination procedures, when dealing with a level 4 pathogen.

The nurse who improvised her protection with trash bags etc. used 4 layers of gloves, and she covered her body and hair.

JMHO the workers need more protection, and decontamination after exposure before they take off the gear.

The guy is a blithering idiot. What kind of “doctor” is he or is he just a bureaucrat and loyal liberal who hasn’t laid hands on a patient since medical school? On Kelly Files last night he came across as a nitwit. It makes one think the three stooges are protecting us from Ebola.

Give me a call when you see him putting on the gear, K?

Words cannot adequately describe what I think about this @ss (Frieden). when nurses are taping up gaps in their protective gear, “less” is a death sentence and he knows it. Now Obola is cancelling a campaign trip to meet with his agency heads & will then make some remarks. Well, too late .... Obola has told SO many lies about everything, who is going to believe a word he says now (other than his core mentally afflicted liberal base)?? The only reason he’s doing anything now is that Ebola is politically killing him and the Dems - political motivation is the only time he takes action.
