Professor Chrisopher Exley of Keele University claims that aluminium present in everyday items like cosmetics and food may be building up in the brain and causing Alzheimer's disease
Aluminium poisoning may be fuelling Alzheimers disease, a leading professor has claimed.
Professor Chrisopher Exley, of Keele University, said that exposure to the metal causes deposits in the human brain which can exacerbate other problems
...Aluminium, he argues, is now added to or used in almost everything we eat, drink, inject or absorb. The metal is abundant in the Earths crust and is naturally absorbed from the soil by plants and foodstuffs. But aluminium sulphate is also added to water to improve clarity, to cakes and biscuits as a raising agent and it is in tea, cocoa, wine and fizzy drinks

It is tough on teeth. They’re very acidic. My dentist told me to drink some water afterwards and it would help.
30 years of aluminum? Now I get it!
I think?

If aluminum is so ubiquitous not only in the natural environment but also in the many of the products we use like antiperspirants and in the foods we eat and the water we drink, then we would expect the incidences of Alzheimers to be much more prevalent than it is. Yes, Alzheimers seems to be more prevalent now days than ever before but that could also be attributed to the fact that people in general are living much longer than ever before. Alzheimers is the leading cause of what most consider old age dementia but it is not the only cause. Lewy body dementia and vascular dementia (think strokes and mini strokes) conditions such as Parkinson's and Huntingtons disease are also common causes of dementia.

When reading any article making health claims or even scientific studies submitted for publication (and under peer review although we almost never hear about how many of these papers are eventually shot down under the peer review system because of study flaws or the inability for other scientists to replicate the same results), it is important to remember that correlation does not always equal causation.
I recall a few years ago, two different studies that came out on breast cancer around the same time.
One claiming that a large percentage of breast tissue biopsies from women who were diagnosed with breast cancer (in a study of only about hundred breast cancer patients BTW IIRC) contained trace amounts of aluminum, the assumption being that it was from use of antiperspirants and the aluminum in the antiperspirants played some role in the development of breast cancer because the underarm is close to the breast. This study however did not include information on biopsies of breast tissue where there was no breast cancer found but still contained the same trace amounts of aluminum, the amount of aluminum found in other tissues and their sources, or the number of women who used antiperspirants overall over many years and how many of them developed breast cancer vs. those who didnt or how many women who never used antiperspirants still developed breast cancer.
A similar study pointed to parabens used in some deodorants and has been similarly debunked.
Why, I've been cooking with aluminum pots and pans for I can't remember how long.
I am going to take one guess as to why you cannot remember. :>)
One major source of aluminum is antacids. My father took Maalox for 40 years or so and he’s got Parkinson’s now. There is no proof it’s related but I can clearly see how it could be.
make sure you take the right kind (form) and enough. Don’t take kelp. Take Lugol’s or Iodoral in mg, not mcg.
Lugols, yup.
Underarm stick deodorants..........
LOL!
I would disagree.......way back when, our crazy grandparents merely suffered from "senility" or "dementia".
Had they the advantage of modern day medical diagnostics, it's likely they actually suffered from Alzheimers........
I heard about the aluminium link 20 years ago. New study?
Sweating is a natural process and I don’t believe it is good to stop it.
Thanks, I’ll have to try that - and I just bought 2 lemons.
I would not use aluminum pots for cooking but if you don’t care then it doesn’t bother me. Cooking acid foods like spaghetti sauce is more of a problem. They will pick up aluminum from the pot easier.
Like I said....knock yourselves out. Go use your aluminum pots

Unless someone stinks. Then I don’t want to be around them.
Amazing. So my stupider brain cells are getting killed off with each beer I drink. News you can use!
If you are dedicated brush with baking soda after sweet sticky foods like candy and after acidic foods. Baking soda is alkaline so neutralizes it. If you are on a sodium restricted get the potassium version of baking soda. Potassium bicarbonate. Found on ebay and amazon
